There was a segment on CNN last night where they showed a clip from a year ago of a Republican Congressman denouncing Gaetz in the strongest possible way for his actions. CNN asked the same Congressman last night if he would support Trump’s pick of Gaetz as AG and he replied he would support Trump’s choice. That is all I needed to hear.
This is one of the many reasons I think the anti-trumpists aren’t the bad guys. They have issues like anybody else but there really is something weird happening on the Trumpist side even if it is winning elections.
No great surprise here.
Kennedy, Gaetz, Gabbard, Hegseth - a veritably roll call of the “best people”
It’s really hard to pick a “worst” cabinet level pick so far because you know the next few are going to be just as bad.
I was hoping he would just get part of HHS.
HHS has about 9% of total federal discretionary spending and 35% of mandatory spending.
an anti-fluoride anti-vaxxer with no health background at HHS sigh
at least give him the Interior to be weird with since at least that matches better with his professional background
…maybe when Trump officially takes the oath of office he’ll be like “just kidding here are my real picks for everything” and then they’ll be good people whose backgrounds better match their appointed posts?
This is still a first round pick for all those that supported him. They get what they want regardless of other considerations.
Glad to see you still have optimism and a sense of humour about this! If we lose that we are doomed.
How long until the firings begin?
Thankfully, the CBC is providing non-stop coverage of the buildup to Taylor Swift’s Toronto concert tonight and has the Trump Cabinet picks on the back burner. I am not a Swiftie but this is a nice break from CNN.
My kids saw her in Indy. 4 hour show. Had a great time.
My oldest daughter scored four tickets when they went on sale for the Vancouver concerts so she is taking her sister as well as her daughter and her friend. I expect they will have the time of their life at the concert.
Yes, I’m guessing he could still run and win in the special election.
Note for all these Representative cabinet selections: there’s never an appointment; unlike for Senators, the seat just stays vacant, which is why the House margin will dictate how many could leave for another role in the same window of time.
It’s not a cult. It’s just a collection of people who will forget every decent principle they have in order to curry favor with one person and do their bidding, whatever the whim at the moment is, even if it means doing just enough to avoid being punished in front of everyone else.
Cross Lindsey Graham off as someone who won’t bow to pressure:
The list was printed with Lindesy’s name already crossed off.
I wonder what RFKjr’s appointment will mean to approvals for the annual flu and COVID vaccines.
He did say that he will not “take away” any vaccines. May slow down approval for future vaccines, but not looking to go backward.
Seems like he’s mostly focused on the un-natural things we’re putting into our bodies…seems reasonable to me. I’m fascinated to see how this goes.
I was wondering about that because the stock for companies that sell vaccines have been falling.
There is a CNN page with all the Trump picks so far.
