I think even Herschel can handle that role.
I think having Elmo as Speaker of the House might be less risky than his DOGE effort.
He doesnât have a history of leadership in roles that need consensus. He will likely muck it up fantastically.
So how would that work: Would Mike Johnson go back to being just a regular rep, and then Elon or whoever would be Speaker but just not actually vote on anything he Speakers about?
Yes, thatâs how it would âworkâ.
I donât think there has been a speaker who wasnât a sitting member of congress but itâs been talked about for a long time. I imagine a speaker who was not a member would likely be slightly less effective then the VP in their role in the Senate but it could be a fascinating study in dis function.
Maybe instead of the Speaker also being a rep and the VP also having a hand in the Senate, there should be separate AVPs for the House Speaker job and the Senate President job. (I havenât decided yet if /s or not.)
There was a time when speakers had power because they could promise a committee assignment or a couple lines in a bill.
Musk can threaten to send the twitter (X) hordes after them and provide a primary challenger with unlimited funds.
I struggle to see him having the time or patience for that job.
Meh.

I am waiting for Tesla shareholders to say âhow about you do the job we overpay you for?â
Tesla stock is up massively over the past few months. The shareholders are happy.
Meanwhile, CyberTruck production lines were shut down most of last week, most likely due to poor sales.
Tesla has been having fantastic sales in China recently.
Their sales had a modest increase since 2023 in China but their market share has dropped. Theyâre also down 13.7% year on year sales in Europe.
A driver ploughed into pedestrians in Germany. Musk took to X
Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of X, has called on Mr Sholz to âimmediately resignâ in the wake of the attack, and called the Chancellor an âincompetent foolâ.
Not for long. BYD sells quality EVs for half of the cost of a Tesla.
Elon is going to be as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
He has a plan. Thatâs why he bought a presidency that is keen on tariffs for Chinese products and simultaneously subsidizing domestic producers that demonstrate proper fealty.
Tesla as a car company is worth about 50 dollars a share, but investors view it as an AI play (self-driving, robotics). So comparing it to BYD is futile. Of course the chinese can make things at a lower cost but they are not great at technology.
Methinks someone interested in a new car will be influenced by price.
But you do you. Iâm gonna take a hard pass on shorting Chinaâs technology progress.
Same guy doesnât bat an eye when his own automated automobiles run people over.
