Advice needed. Best Halloween candy

So M&M’s are significantly better than Smarties since Eminem is significantly better than Taylor Swift?

I can’t even explain smarties to someone from a country that uses corn syrup on pancakes. The framework isn’t there.

Peanut butter and corn syrup, tyvm.

I also made sandwiches with this as a child when we didn’t have honey to mix with the PB.

I sent this to someone I know who despises candy corn!!! :+1:

So they’re like maple syrup m&ms? Gross.

Stop it, it’s a disgrace to syrup to call that corn stuff by the same name. :face_vomiting:

Not all Americans are hoodwinked into consuming that imitation stuff.

For all the talk about imitation crab… at least it’s actual fish. Imitation maple syrup isn’t even close.

@JFG: And you too!!!

I’d try pancakes with Canadian Smarties.

Imitation crab is actually pretty good IMO. I don’t mind it once in a while.

Yup. I love crab, and imitation crab ain’t crab. But imitation crab is a very pleasant food and I enjoy eating it.

Similar experience, but margarine on toast vs butter.

I think margarine is just one molecule away from plastic, I can believe we ate that shit growing up, totally team butter here.

oh, as a kid i had both and preferred margarine. now i prefer butter.

Yeah, we pretty much only ate margarine as kids and I was pretty shocked to find out how good butter is.

As an aside, just this week I decided I wasn’t going to use a toaster again. Put the butter in the pan and fry the bread. It’s WAY better.

Water is just one atom away from hydrogen peroxide. I can’t believe we drink that stuff…

I don’t know much about hydrocarbons, so I don’t know how important the difference you mentioned is, but I’m not going to freak out about it yet.

Butter definitely tastes better. We’ve got a milk allergy in the house though…

Point taken, but margarine still tastes like shit.

Dihydrogen oxide? Who would just drink chemicals???

Do you know if it’s the lactose or the casein that’s the issue?

Ghee is very low in both, so either way you might want to try that. It’s expensive to buy, but you can also make it. Doing so is a bit tedious, but it smells delicious.

My mom has a casein allergy and found that in addition to ghee she could have small quantities of goat and sheep milk products, but not cow or buffalo milk products (other than ghee), which are higher in casein. She loves cheese, so the fact that she can have any at all is major. But I think goat & sheep milk still has a fair amount of lactose, so if that’s the allergy then you’d want to steer clear of those.

I’m told that camel’s milk rarely bothers folks with allergies, but it’s very difficult to come by (and I assume expensive, but I’ve never even found it to check).
