I’ve not met many actuarial spouses that think we are basically normal people. Maybe not abnormal, but not normal either. Every actuarial spouse I asked about their spouse fully admits their spouse is quirky, and a little more so than “normal” people.

Didn’t we fire the first shots in the Reef Central skirmish of whatever year it was.

Though I could be wrong. I wasn’t involved in it but did watch some and visited the reef a few times to see what was going on.

i never participated, but yes. I think when it came to a head the RC mod complained to the AO that “some of [y]our children” invaded the RC and made a traverhsamockery of things and it was disrespectful. but still, constant vigilence.

That seem like what I remember.

I thought it started when people at the Outpost started discussing snorkeling and decided to take their discussion to people who would know.

I would think @SpaceLobster would remember.

Yeah, you nerds decided snorkelling was funny, so a bunch made accounts at reef central or something. I had no part in that.

Folks made a bunch of posts and caused havoc for the mods.

One of their mods messaged me telling me that if I didn’t stop it (I wasn’t doing anything) that they’d report me to the authorities. I responded with ‘what authorities. Papa smurf?’.

You folks probably shouldn’t have done that, but it was kinda funny and they could’ve taken it in good humour.

What do you call a group of Actuaries…

For example, in terms of a collective noun we have a murder of crows, an unkindness of ravens, or an array of hedgehogs.

A guild of Actuaries? (Or is that just too silly)

If there’s some from the SOA and some from the CAS . . . perhaps a collage of actuaries?

If it’s just CAS members . . . a wisdom of actuaries?

If it’s just SOA members . . . a swarm of actuaries?

I still miss the AO and all the history there (was thinking yesterday about how I regretted not reading the 9/11 thread) but also relieved other personal things are no longer available for public consumption.

that was definitely a wild thread. LIve posting by actuaries in the area trying to get home. I was actually talking to Serena when it happened, she told me to turn on the TV and watch. We had some folks in cleaning our carpets at the time, they shut everything down, sat on the couch and watched it unfold.

The reef thing…that was probably close to 20 years ago now. Crazy.
