2026 Winter Olympics (Milano Cortina)

lol. USA guy that scored the OT game winner stealing away possibly the most famous Canadian pop star at present is pretty close to an act of war…

…eh?

Maybe she can get him to demand a trade to Toronto? Reverse-Gretzky move.

Why Toronto? Should’t he go to a city with a hockey team?

Toronto is the hardest NHL city for any hockey player to play in. The fan and media scrutiny is debilitating.

Paralympics started this weekend….watched some of the skiing this morning while finishing my coffee….really inspiring!

I am curious, are there multiple iterations of each event based on capability?

Missing a leg, two legs, an arm, mental - or do they all compete together?

Not really sure…

In the summer olympics they have separate events based on disability type so I would imagine they would do something similar for the winter games.

wasn’t sure about summer either - that seems like a lot of potential events

Looking at one entry from the event calendar for tomorrow:

Skimming through the list of winter paralympic events…it looks like most of the events that involve skiing have “sitting” and “standing” variants. However events like curling or ice hockey, just have a single paralympic event (e.g. “wheelchair curling”).

I believe there is also a set of “odds” that are applied depending on the level of compromise. Like, in downhill skiing, if you have lost an arm below the elbow, you get a different amount of time compensation versus if you’ve lost an arm above the elbow; but both end up competing against each other but not against those who are skiing on a prosthetic leg (or two).
