So the WS found ways to lose all three games to the Yanks. Looked like they had a good chance to win two.
My cable sports channel does not broadcast Friday night Jays games as Apple TV has exclusive rights here to those games: I won’t pay for a third sports channel. The Yanks-Orioles game will be telecast on my channel. A bit nostalgic as the Yanks were always the team I supported until Toronto got the Jays.
A bit surprised the betting odds highly favour the Yanks to win in a high scoring game tonight as Trevor Rogers starts for the Orioles. Yanks can afford to lose a game as Jays probably will only win one against the Rays who always play them tough.
Rogers has a llowed as many a 3 runs…checks notes…1 time all season. In his 2nd start after being recalled from AAA (oddly Rogers was pretty terrible in AAA this year, wonder if injury was the only reason he got called up?), he’s allowed 0 or 1 run 13 of his 17 starts and just threw 6 inning of SO ball against the Yankees last weekend.
So yeah Yanks -156 and U8 at -103 on Draftkings seem a bit off.
AL - Cleveland, and Detroit both lose but get closer to clinching playoff spot both with Magic number of 1 as Astros continue their own skid against the Angels.
Nl - only the 6 spot is left as Cincinnati takes back control of destiny form Mets as they own the tie breaker with 2 to play.
AL is more exciting than NL with 2 teams tied for first in both the East and Central Divisions. Both could go down to the last game. WC seedings are up in the air.
Boston is in a good position as they can set up their WC playoff rotation with their three good starters. Their opponents may not be able to do so as they are still battling for position: the opposing team will have its hands full against Sox in the WC round.
Pretty sure Seattle is very happy they are the 2 seed instead of 1 seed right now. Yankees and Boston both tougher opponents than Tigers or Guardians right now.
Congrats on the home playoff series next weekend, if it’s against the Yankees I hope you’re disappointed, if it’s against the Red Sox good luck!
Agree that Jays have a tougher path than Seattle. I will watch the Yanks-Sox series as it should be good.
Seattle and Toronto both got their expansion teams in 1977 so I would like to see them in the ALCS. I might even break my US travel boycott if I could get a ticket in Seattle for one of those games.
I was in the car to do a quick errand and caught about 2 minutes of the Cubs game - the 2 home runs. Then when I got back into the car, I caught the final out. So I caught all the highlights live in about 4 minutes of listening.
