Version 7.1

The Bears are a model of instability. Get new coach, get new OC, get new QB, get new OC, get new OC, get new coach…

Even if the rookie QBs had good talent around them they can’t learn under those conditions.

end of today’s steelers/ravens game showed a mistake by ravens/harbaugh.

they are down 2 points. 66 seconds left. kicking off following their score. all 3 Time outs remain.

options -

  1. kick off, steelers get it at the 25 or 30. ravens need to stuff them and not allow a 1st down and force a punt. then work with whatever time is left.
  2. try an onsides kick. if you receover, amazing! if not, they need to stuff them and not allow a 1st down. then work with whatever is left.

seems to me like they are kind of the same situation, but option 2 gives you a chance at possessing NOW. Ravens chose option 1. did not possess the ball.

is my thinking too simplistic?

i thought Balt had 3 TOs, so it wasn’t one 1st down and done. So Pit, could get stopped and add a FG

Re the Bears

At least it wasn’t a double doink

Does Allen always beat Mahomes in the regular season and Mahomes beats him when it counts?

So far yeah :sob:

A failed onside kick attempt will result in much worse field position, but given the timing, maybe made sense to try.

But WHAT DO THE ANALYTICS SAY!!! LOL

An onsides kick was the right call in this situation. I don’t think it was that close of a decision.
MAYBE if you were playing against a crappy team/coach, but even then I’d onsides kick.

Onside recovery rate since they changed the rules has been like 5%.

Failed onside kick gives the ball on your own ~45yard line give or take a few yards compared to opposing 30 for a kick out the back of the end zone. 25 yards field position probably isn’t worth the even low chance at recovering onside in most cases.

With 66s I’d say onside for sure. If you get the stop it’s not hard to move half the field in 60s, even without timeouts.
Less time I’d say the field position might win out. But maybe that’s low enough probability that you just take the onside attempt anyway.

The Bears ending was so frustrating since they surprisingly outplayed GB most of the game. Second game this year they lost on the last play in spectacular fashion. 11th loss in a row… our relatives in Wisconsin stopped talking shit years ago because they just feel bad for us now.

On the other hand, lots of positives for the Bears. Was great seeing the new OC creating a much better game plan for Caleb and him executing well. He just seemed much more decisive, either getting the ball out quickly or taking off with his legs. Big difference from the last couple weeks where he just sat in the pocket. Overall was a good game from a team that was in freefall.

Taylor Swift did not show up for the KC game despite being only a two hour drive (or 15 minute private jet flight) away from Buffalo. No Toronto concert yesterday nor in the next few days. Time to start some rumours?

More importantly, the Bills won!

I was thinking that she would coordinate her concerts to be in the part of Canada closest to Buffalo for the game. Perhaps that was the original plan.

Then there is this Kelce/Swift quiz:

The final score of Detroit’s 52-6 win over the Jaguars has never happened before (aka a “scorigami”). Although new final scores getting increasingly rare over time, but this was the 4th this season after 9 last season (only 3 the season prior).

Scorigami

It’s not over until there’s a song about it.

I was surprised that she wasn’t there, gotta admit.

But you never know when she’s not feeling well or has a family event or something. She’s been on tour for 18 months, so she’s allowed to be exhausted.

If she misses more games when she’s nearby then I’ll start to wonder.

Apparently (some of) the Bills fans suck.

She had the first three of her six Toronto concerts on the previous three nights so she is entitled to a leisurely Sunday to relax in TO rather than shuffle off to Buffalo?

49ers are now likely to miss the playoffs due to surrendering 4th quarter leads. Especially to in division opponents.

Sigh. Another season lost to injury. (CMC, Aiuk, Hufanga, Greenlaw, Hargrave, Deebo for several games, …)
