2024 NFL Football Thread

It’s not just home games. You’ll even see prices for their road games skyrocket compared to games against other opponents in the same stadium.

Add to that a surge in short term popularity of a new-hope QB and Hard Knocks appearance.

For a small group or family, it is often cheaper to drive to an away game, spend a night or two in hotels and buy decent road seats than to visit Soldier Field.

Cubs fans too.

You ever wonder why Milwaukee hates that we call their stadium “Wrigley North”?

Must be irrational Bears fans all over the country, because they left that hell-hole (or freeze-hole) of a city?
Or, “Might as well take a vacation where, coincidentally or not, the Bears will play in a better place than this hell-hole (or freeze-hole) of a city”?

DTNF, sometimes you hit the nail right on the head. And you thought that you and I never agree? Ha!

Case in point: LAC played to a hostile crowd at home vs KC.
Granted KC is the reigning NFL Football champs and maybe, just maybe they could catch a glimpse of TS, but this is LAC’s (and to an extent LAR’s) job: to provide a nice place for visiting fans to go watch their teams.

Yep, EVERYWHERE. Don’t even have to travel necessarily, though I’m sure many do.

Falcons @ Bucs? $40
Bears @ Bucs? $180

btw, you forgot “Tax-hole” “Corruption-hole” “Gun Violence Hole” and “Traffic Congestion Hole”

There are definitely a lot of Bears fans everywhere due to people moving from CHI. However, I wouldn’t put CHI among the top road crowds here. Plenty? Sure, but PIT, DAL, GB road crowds seem bigger. KC was big here this year due to the bandwagon.

Since the above example was made up, I decided to just look at a venue that had Bears and Cowboys as road teams this year: SF. Here is the cheapest get in the building currently listed on ticketmaster for 2 tickets:
Bears $182
Cards $71
Chiefs $315
Cowboys $351
Seahawks $200
Rams $145
Lions $224

Did not click through on any to see if other fees were added at the end for any game above..

Another example: Arizona Cardinals remaining home games, lowest ticket prices available

Chargers: $31
Bears: $188
Jets: $62
Seahawks: $48
Patriots: $45
49ers: $77

Not saying there aren’t other teams with similar effects (Pitt, Dal, GB, etc…). But the Bears effect is definitely real.

Can’t argue with any of this but I still love Chicago.

I have [had?] an option to go to the Chicago game for $150 as part of a college get-together. I passed on it, only because I’d have to find transportation across Phoenix [the game is the day before the CAS confab starts] and Mrs. Hoffman would struggle with the crowd noise.

Earplugs or ear protectors make a difference. But yeah, the crowd/stadium noise is crazy.

it IS the only place you can find any truly exceptional pizza.

Do you mean bread loaf with hunks of tomato?

The Falcons games this season are not for the faint of hard. We had crazy finishes 2 weeks in a row, and the other 3 games were last drive type affairs too.

He did say “exceptional” which I took to mean “unusual, not typical”, and not in a particularly good way.

As opposed to “extraordinary” which I take to mean more ordinary than you could ever imagine

“Exceptional” usually has a positive connotation unless paired with a negative adjective: “exceptionally bad” or “exceptionally awful”.

If it’s just “exceptional”, usually that means “unusually good”.

And since the subject is Chicago-style pizza… obviously he meant exceptionally good.
