8 game left for the Fail Hose.
7-1 to avoid tie with Mets
6-2 to avoid setting modern day loss record
3-5 to avoid modern day percentage record.
The first two look pretty safe unless the White Sox manage to duplicate the Tigers finish.

During the WS broadcast today, they brought up something similar to what was posted earlier - SD’s (who they’re playing) lowest batting average on the team is .245. The White Sox’ highest batting average is .247. So they do actually cross a little.
In bad news, as far as records go, Crochet, who many thought was done for the season, is scheduled to pitch again against the Angels.
Oh, speaking of records, tonight’s loss gave them a tie for the AL record, for whatever that’s worth
Speaking of which, the tigers are a half game back of the second wild card spot so they will likely need every win they can get.
Woo hoo on tying the Mets!
The update to get to the records:
Losses record - no better than 5-1
% record - no better than 2-4
I watched the Bears and White Sox back-to-back yesterday. Not sure why I subject myself to this torture. Rookie Sean Burke pitched well but no lead is safe with this bullpen.
Headline on the front page of today’s Sun Times: “UNFIT … TO BE TIED”
Doh! The White Sox run to the 3rd big record has ended - they avoided being the only major league team ever to finish a season without a comeback win. So close! There were only 6 games to go! Here’s hoping they can get back on track.
Do they have a plan? I assume they have to keep playing them until they don’t count and MLB obviously wouldn’t want to hold up the playoff schedule. Would they consider moving the games? I seem to recall that’s happened before more than once.
Ridicule, but I bet they couldn’t make them fast enough.
7th inning or later comeback win, to clarify
If the games count for who gets it they will be made up, probably on Monday if they can’t be played today or tomorrow. If they are “just for seeding” I do t think they are made up. And if they don’t matter at all, they aren’t rescheduled.
This seems like the likely scenario if the forecast holds. Seems highly unlikely they can get in a game tonight or tomorrow based on forecast, which has it coming slightly earlier than what they projected yesterday. Since the Braves and Mets are a game apart now with AZ sandwiched .5 games between them, those 2 Braves Mets games should likely count for who gets in.
There’s a smaller chance it’s just for seeding, particularly if one of the 3 teams tanks and the other 2 finish strong.
There’s also a chance a one game play-in game could still be needed between the 3.
They no longer have play in games, MLB went to tiebreaker system with the addition of 3rd WC game.
d-backs lose tie breaker to both ATL and Mets
Thanks, did not remember that. Google tells me:
Tiebreakers
So both tonight’s and tomorrow’s games are needed to determine the Braves - Mets tiebreaker.
If the Dbacks tank the games won’t be made up. If the Braves or Mets need to win to catch the Dbacks and get in, the games will be made up.
MLB should move tomorrow’s Mets vs Braves game to today (double-header)…unlikely to have any chance to play tomorrow…
Right now they are forecasting the rain to start between 1 and 2pm today near the stadium, and keep going through late Friday AM.
My weather app tells me Atlanta has a 90% chance of rain starting at 2pm today and it doesn’t drop below that until Friday I’m not in Atlanta so I can’t say if that accurate or not of if there will be light rain they might play through followed by Caddyshack playing conditions.
