Laughs in prior auth and step therapy. And the complete shit show that is MA right now.
You know what you donât read about in CanadaâŚmedical bankruptcy.
Administration costs of the US healthcare system are much higher than under âsocialized medicineâ. Even Canadaâs system has much lower admin costs than the US.
I would like to see statistics that show more lives are being lost under the Canadian system than under the US one. Our problem is with waiting times for folks who are not morbidly ill: you get fast treatment if your life is at risk though.
The problem with the Canadian system is we do not spend enough on it to eliminate the waiting times for some procedures. If we spent the same % of GDP on healthcare as the US does, I expect the waiting lists would disappear from the extra medical equipment and professionals that funding would enable.
Need to win the argument. To Hell with outcomes of everyone else. This argument is all that matters.
Happens in plenty of threads.
Oh I get wanting to win-- that makes sense to me. Whatâs crazy is that people make comments like that knowing they are going to be dunked on.
Personally, I donât believe that healthcare is a right - I see it as a privilege.
That said, if the government is going to make sure everyone as healthcare, then as I said earlier, give everyone the same benefit. Donât give it to some for free, and others pay a fortune for it. If itâs a right, then it should cost the same for all.
Perhaps they have a different version.
I assume you have a modicum of actuarial experience?
So NO rating factors? I⌠I donât hate it.
Are you saying coverage is never denied in the US?
Non-approved drugs and therapies are not covered.
Catch-22 in that it works but not proven for that age group, since people didnât survive that long. And per doctor in article no one would study this because it would be unethical to have a control group.
Not at all. But this person is being denied care not because they are out of money, but because the government doesnât want to spend it.
Government is the largest HC payer in the us with medicare and medicaid right? So you already have socialized medicine.
I know very well that actual costs are different for each person, with all the rating factors that go into it. But if youâre going to argue that healthcare is a right, and that the government should supply it to all, then donât charge some people more than others. When I said that some get it for free and others have to pay a fortune, that wasnât based on the rating factors - itâs based on income. Under the ACA, someone with terrible health who doesnât make a lot of money would get it for free, while someone perfectly healthy, with no risk indicators, who makes a good amount of money, would pay a fortune.
The US spends $15k per capita on health care.
Which is, coincidentally, the same as minimum wage.
It would be funny if a healthy person making minimum wage had to contribute their entire salary to taking care of the sick and old.
We have the worst of both worlds.

Graham held up the shutdown deal because he was mad they wouldnât let him sue for millions
âI want notification. What senator wouldnât want notification that theyâre looking at your phone?â Graham told reporters Thursday night after he said he would not agree to a speedy vote on the funding deal.
Really, Lindsey? Fucking rich coming from you.
U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today praised Senate passage of the PATRIOT Act reauthorization. The vote in the Senate was 89-10. âThe PATRIOT Act helps our intelligence and law enforcement agencies protect us from a vicious enemy. The tools it provides are necessary to help fight and win the War on Terror. âThe legislation also strikes a good balance protecting the rights of individuals while protecting the security of our nation."
