I think there’s a decent chance Flowers goes late first, but he could easily go early 2nd as there’s a pretty wide range of opinion on the WR rankings outside of JSN being WR1. You don’t see too many pure slot WR going in the first round in the past.
ESPN does have Flowers as WR2 so he should go first round according to them. However Fox has him as WR4, the Athletic has him as WR4, and he’s WR7 on NFLDraftScout. He should get taken somewhere after the top half of the first round and before the bottom half of the second round IMO, which is really high for a slot WR. Of course it only takes one team to fall in love and take him earlier.
False reports that Bears receiver DJ Moore was suspended by the NFL for a year.
True reports that Lions DB CJ Moore has been suspended by the NFL for at least year for gambling on NFL games Also Jameson Williams, Stanley Berryhill, Quintez Cephus, and Shaka Toney.
This is a kind of interesting tool to play with: it predicts the odds of a given pick going by draft spot, as well as the odds of the pick being available at a given spot.
It’s of course based on ESPN’s board. I think it probably doesn’t introduce enough variance, particularly for a prospect ESPN has higher than others.
Specific example: ESPN really likes Zay Flowers. Looks like they would set the over/under on him to be picked at spot 21.5. He may very well go late first, but I’ll take the over on 21.5.
2023 first-round pick (No. 13 overall)
2023 second-round pick (No. 42)
2023 sixth-rounder (No. 207)
2024 conditional second-round pick, which can become a first if Rodgers plays 65% of the Jets’ offensive plays this season
…the Jets will inherit the remainder of his contract, which includes $59.465 million guaranteed in salary and bonus this season. Most of it is made up of a $58.3 million bonus that is due no later than Week 1 of this season.
The Packers now must absorb $40.3 million in dead money on their salary cap. Because his bonus money is prorated, Rodgers won’t cripple the Jets’ cap. He will count $15.8 million in 2023 and $32.5 million in 2024, cap-friendly for a player of his stature.
It’s unclear whether Rodgers renegotiated his contract to facilitate the trade.
I don’t actually understand what that all said other than he counts 40.3M against the Packers.
If they’re in the playoff hunt and he’s playing even ok, there’s no way they sit him 6 full games. Seems like a pretty favorable outcome for the Packers imo.
Good trade all around. Packers remove the drama, grab a little extra in the draft and trade him out of the conference. They may have to have one step back this year (although they missed playoffs last year so can’t go too far back) to move forward, but looks good. Jets didn’t give up too much to sacrifice entire future and team.
Good draft and the Bears might be the favorite in the division, the Lions would almost bet on it,
Maybe they can renegotiate his contract to include a few weeks of paid leave for some more of those Darkness Retreats during the season. Mental health is as important as physical health (if not more)!
“Remember kids… Football is 80% mental, 40% physical”
i don’t know why the jets would do that this week. should have waited until after round 1 just in case a new Qb fell to them at 13. with that as a threat, GB should have been shitting themselves for the $60M on the books for a guy who won’t play for them anymore. Just feel like NYJ caved early on this
Because it’s been over 50 years since the Jets went to the Super Bowl, they have a playoff caliber team, and are hoping Rodgers a hall of fame QB has one more near MVP caliber season in him after a disappointing year last year.
