I paused the ceremony to make some lunch so I took this at face value, but now that I watched the rest of the ceremony, the guy who delivered the benediction was not a priest.
It was a good benediction too, IMO. (Not surprising as obviously you’ll bring your A-game to a Presidential inauguration.)

I think the impeachment did us some good here. Someone told him that if he pardoned the insurrectionists he would lose the Senate 100-0.
Yeah, I rarely like poetry, especially poetry written on demand for some occasion. But I really like that. She was great.

But, I still think the impeachment constrained Trump in the last couple weeks to some extent.

2pac is probably still waiting for the space force to swoop in, arrest Biden and all the Dems, and declare Trump the president.

Huh, I was thinking that 2pac probably believes that trump still IS the president, and the whole inauguration thing is a massive conspiracy to hide the truth. But that windy is pissed that the vote was stolen.
Biden’s faith is important to him. He went to mass right before this. Any person of faith that became President would definitely want to consider being responsible for 330,000,000 members of God’s creation.

Yeah, I think Biden is genuinely religious, and he’s “playing up” the Christian stuff because it matters to him. I think he’s trying to include members of other faiths in the religious stuff to give a message of unity, but I think the Christian stuff is for him.

I don’t know - I’ll only believe he’s religious if he goes across the street and gets his picture taken holding up a bible.

I feel like religiosity rarely comes up nowadays. It’s weird and awkward to hear someone mentions God on TV nowadays, from either side of the aisle.
You don’t have to mention God anymore. If you vote Republican your soul is saved.

it looked like the country’s biggest Zoom call. In fact, Mr. Biden was installing roughly 1,000 high-level officials in about a quarter of all of the available political appointee jobs in the federal government.
My uninformed idea of filling federal “political appointment” jobs was that the president gets cabinet members, who need to be confirmed by the Senate. Then they jointly name the next level, who also need Senate confirmation. And so on, until they eventually get to the people who don’t need to wait for the Senate to go to work.
It appears that Biden, knowing how gov’t works, kicked out the Trumpkins at the lower levels and immediately replaced them with appointee who didn’t need the Senate. Then, they could step into “acting” positions to move Biden’s agenda forward, while the upper levels were waiting on the Senate. Many of the appointees were Obama or agency alumni. They could start working on day one.
