New interpretation of handball offences (their spelling) leading to goals coming July.
Not the scorer’s handling, which I assume goals will still not be allowed, but from teammates “in the build-up.”
And for defensive handling, referees (and VAR ref’s) will have to interpret where an arm is in relation to the player’s body actions. I’m guessing this refers to attempted headings, in which a player’s arms might not be rigidly against his/her body the whole time.
Thanks but probably won’t join up. Spring is in the air so time to start thinking about baseball and NHL playoffs as Canada should have contenders in both sports this year. Hope springs eternal.
Spurs have dropped 11 points because of goals conceded in the last 10 minutes of matches, most in the EPL this season. But they are still only two points out of fourth place…
Liverpool looked good off break, with A-A not playing and looking fresh and Jota healthy. Also, big difference not have MFs playing CH. Happy Klopp finally moved there.
Battle for the top four is heating up. Here is 538 on LEI’s chances.
Still wondering about their prediction model. Teams that play in Euro’s get some boost in the model. And past year’s results still count for something. And squad value is still counted, cannot be overcome (without adding valuable players, obviously).
LEI are 21st in 538’s Global Rankings, behind MCI (1), LIV (4), MUN (5), CHE (7), and ARS (14).
Maybe they (538) know what they’re doing. I think a good lookback post-season would be to say, “we were right about for the past [Y] weeks.” I mean, they were right about MCI all season long, even when they were in 10th place in the table.
Wow. Seems like a very short leash. And not like the results were abysmal. I mean a bit disappointing this season to be outside the top 4 right now, but they aren’t that far out. And last season ran them back from 14th to 6th (according to EPL website). Were the personalities just not mixing?
Totteham should hire Biesla at the close of the season.
While disappointed in the results for Reds today, EPL is better with Leeds in the mix. They play much better than Norwich, Burnley, Middlesbrough, West Brom and Fulham. Today, they had 60% possession and a dozen+ shots. They are a lesser talented team with a work rate of Liverpool 2 years ago.
Hoping Brentford gets promoted. They’ll have to get through the play-offs, though. I don’t see them passing Watford and Swansea City.
Norwich City are back up next season.
I agree that the Mourinho firing gets buried because of the Super League chatter but Spurs fans (like me) noticed, especially since Spurs play MC for the League Cup in less than a week’s time. League Cup not nearly as prestigious as other competitions admittedly but Spurs should be appreciative of any opportunity to win something!
Well, it’s a way to get into the Europa League, but it requires (as they did this year) two rounds of knockouts to progress.
That is, if they’re not barred from it.
Qualifying for European Cup play probably not on Spurs’ owners’ minds now with the money signs flashing in their eyes from Super League possibilities. Will be interesting to see what sorts of retaliations are mounted against prospective Super League teams. This will only get uglier…
The biggest threat, IMO, is banning the players from the World Cup. Not sure who does the banning, though. FIFA? I mean, if FIFA has an issue with closed leagues, why does it let MLS players play in the World Cup? Would it be UEFA? Does UEFA have authority over South American players? Would it be the Federations? I think one of them would crack if it knew the others were holding steady, if a World Cup championship would be more possible by not banning their own countrymen.
MLS is not the same as what was being proposed. Every league has a bottom division/level. MLS just doesn’t have lower divisions. What was being proposed was a new top division that other teams in the pre existing divisions would be shut out of.
