Maybe a cookbook, although Q14 may rule that out? Not official question.
What about asking if it’s a vessel? That would allow vase/pitcher/flower pot and rule out some other possibilities if yes / vice versa if no.
If anyone thinks that’s a good idea, go ahead & ask.
I feel like cookbooks would virtually always be in the kitchen… there wouldn’t be angst over the kitchen question if it was a cookbook, IMO.
Mine don’t live in the kitchen, they live on a bookshelf in a nearby room. They only visit the kitchen when I’m using them.
Depending on how you count, i have maybe 40 cookbooks, and I’ve never had more than 2 in the kitchen at once.
I want to ask about lighting it on fire. Anyone second that idea?
I’d rather ask if it’s consumable first.
I guess most kitchen consumables would either be edible or combustible or flammable, but something like Saran Wrap or trash bags wouldn’t be.
Hmm, when you said “consumable” I assumed you meant things consumed by people, like food and drink, and cigarettes and weed and candles and chapstick. I would not have imagined you were including saran wrap or candles or trash bags or paper towels – which I guess you are?
How do you want to word that question? I think you need to be really explicit, since I certainly would have misunderstood you. I don’t think I’ve ever thought of a candle as “consumable”, fwiw. Like “popular”, it’s a word that can be interpreted in more than one way.
o.O I’m confused by consumable as well
Maybe define it by its useful lifespan? I use up (consume) my car, but slowly. Every time i access my SSD drive it has that much less life in it, but I’ll probably want a larger one before it stops working due to being used up.
I keep candles around for power outages. They are big candles designed to burn for 24 hours, and in practice, their lifespan is longer than that of old incandescent bulbs. But i don’t think of lightbulbs as “consumable”. But maybe the federal agencies that track the economy do? They distinguish between durable goods and other stuff, i think…
what about a plastic bag
Twig mentioned “trash bags” as an example of a consumable that isn’t something you burn.
ya’ll gave up!

Is it primarily decorative?
(I’m still thinking that both vase and pitcher fit, BTW.)
I wonder if it’s something like a plate or glass.
