Women's Soccer

Eh, that headline ain’t so great. Proves the ONE woman is great, and that clubs can make money buying, developing, and selling women.

Sounds creepy when written out that way.

And buying, developing and selling men doesn’t also sound creepy?

Nah, it’s how civilizations have always been built!

That makes it even creepier.

Nice comeback for ENG today. Down 2, force kicks and win.

It was actually telecast on my cable sports channel so I watched it as I like the England team. Great match.

Sweden just faltered long enough for those two late English goals. Tough loss.

Alright, got The Euro W Final on Sunday in a battle for #2 in the world!
In case you missed it, on Tuesday ENG came back yet again, first late in injury time (90’+6’) to tie, then late in Extra time (119’) to win. On Wednesday, Extra Time again, ESP win.

Someone thinks her country’s attitude toward Women’s Soccer is changing:

Uh, no it’s not. Still too many machos in your country and still heading your federation.

Meanwhile, the UCL W will be on Disney+, which is a change from, um, where?

Hey, I got Disney+. Looking forward to watching some QF and later matches.

I wonder if Neil Diamond is watching this?

Pretty good match. Extremely evenly matched top 4 battling for #2 in the world. USA needs to be wary of any of them.

BBC wants to talk about breasts and periods and injuries:

Nice long article about ENG W.

I wonder if someone’s extremely long story about Spain W was tossed after the match.

I take the FIFA rankings (where they give equal points to Olympics and World Cup matches) with a grain of salt. I think that European teams treat the tournaments in order of importance as the World Cup, the Euros, then the Olympics. Non-European countries don’t have anything like the euros so take the Olympics more seriously.

Out of the 16 finalists in the Olympics, only 4 (25%) were European whereas the World Cup has 50% European finalists (9 of 18).

Watching Copa W finals.
Thought that shove at the end of half was red-cardable.
Gals playing pretty rough and Ref is allowing it. Guess that the souse-american way.
Plenty of empty seats, so still too patriarchal down there.

Got caught up with guests at my house.

Just saw Marta’s goal, which was outstanding.

Watched the rest (AET and Kicks) this morning.

Whoa, ESP jump over USWNT while losing the Euro W. Quite a feat!

Meanwhile, BRA drop even with a CONMEBOL W win.

Brazil dropped three positions and is seventh despite successfully defending the Copa America to win its ninth continental title.

Maybe due to a lack of competitive matches? I mean, what can it do, besides hold a tournament or something?

Bump, for hometown gal Alyssa Thompson running away from home to CHE.

Big money, bigger competitions, Emma’s blessing (as opposed to the past W coaches and USSF threatening a drop from the USWNT for not playing in the second-rate league).
Could spell trouble for NWSL owners thinking sports is a risk-free asset.

MUN W lose their boots, match:

Did they fly commercial or something?

Only men’s teams fly by chartered jet.

Meanwhile in CONCACAF Wormen’s World Cup Qualifying 2027…
Nothing until November 2026 for USWNT and CAN, cuz Women don’t deserve Group Stages, I guess. There are qualifiers for the rest of CONCACAF W to qualify for the CONCACAF W Championships, which are essentially knockout matches. Winners of QFs qualify for FIFA WWC in Brazil for 2027. Losers play-in each other for the right to play in the intercontinental play-in.
Recall that in 2010, USWNT lost to Mexico, had to beat CRC in order to play and beat ITA twice, in order to come in second in their WWC Group, then lose the WWC Final to Japan.
So, don’t lose that first match! Next year!

USWNT appear to be a shitty team, playing too much individual soccer.
