From the NFL Football thread.
Could be in the “actuarial sighting” thread, but tis the season, according to Costco.
Movie about a “corporate actuary” whose job it is to make cuts to newly-bought companies by evil corporate world. Not as good as Clooney’s movie about this, I’m guessing.
Why an actuary?
[tfh] SOA pays production companies to include actuaries as roles in entertainment, to “sell” the career.

So, has anyone seen this and do they use the right or wrong stereotypes for the actuary? I can add it to my library list, but I’d rather not.
It sounds vaguely familiar but could be anyone of a dozen lifetime/hallmark type movies that my daughter may have been watching that I was ignoring so can’t help you out.
From the NFL thread (and the AO thread where this was discussed 9 years ago), yes I saw it when it came out in 2015.
They do NOT portray actuaries accurately.
They do not even portray actuaries stereotypically.
The writer heard that “actuaries are important and scary business people who have to make difficult decisions” and that comprises everything the writer knew about actuaries.
If you ignore their misuse of the word “actuary” it is a perfectly average Hallmark / Lifetime Christmas movie.
