Donā€™t work at Amazon. Work-Life balance isnā€™t in their vocabulary. I mean, if you work at Milliman and unrealistic billable hour goals is normal to you, then just stay where you are. Youā€™ll at least get paid well.

I had trouble booking a desk for my trip into the office today.

Its a nightmare to get Tue/Wed/Th these days at the office.

Just not enough desks so you end up in a breakout area.

Whole thing is poorly thought out.

Iā€™m starting a new fully-remote position on Monday. Ideally for me, it would be this, but once a month or every two months, not every week. I like being remote, but I do want to actually connect with not just my team but get to know underwriters, admins, IT, etc. who are going to be in the office on a regular basis.

Congrats on the gig! I saw on LinkedIn as well.

Ditto, I donā€™t need to see people weekly but at least quarterly is my sweet spot for getting peopley.

I do this. I have to make sure I do a quick run-through of names the night before so that I donā€™t say ā€œHey, you!ā€ too many times.

RACIST!!!

(In all seriousness, congrats on the new gig!)

Knees are one of the first things I notice about the person, and they are NOT all the same!!

my wife, back before she was my wife, commented that the thing she remembered about me from the fraternity party where we met was ā€œhuge calvesā€. Which is true. but I find it an odd facet to remember.

actually, itā€™s stereotypist, if you must. Geez, give a guy a break.

Maybe it was relative to the other stick legs in your fraternity?

I honestly canā€™t imagine how Iā€™d keep my work-from-home productivity while in an office.

Hereā€™s the full summary:

Summary.

Since the pandemic, executives have had to rethink their work-from-home policies to better support their companiesā€™ bottom line. Recent research conducted in a real company showed that employees who worked from home three days a week experienced higher satisfaction and lower attrition rates compared with their colleagues who worked from the office. This reduction in turnover saved millions of dollars in recruiting and training costs, thereby increasing profits for the company. Business leaders can learn valuable lessons from this study to implement a successful hybrid work model: establishing rigorous performance management systems, coordinating team or company-level hybrid schedules, and securing support from firm leadership. Additionally, executives should A/B test their own management practices to find what works best for them.
