Same.
I did Covid + influenza last fall and i was fine.
But, when i did shingles + covid + pneumococcal two months ago, i had the worst reaction.
That was not an experience i would recommend to anyone.
I’m a 5-times Pfizer recipient, initially because that’s what was being given at the mass-vaccine clinic I got my appointments at, and since then because my father, aunt, and cousin who all got Moderna had some unpleasantness with “Moderna arm”.
For all of my Pfizer vaccines, I didn’t particularly enjoy the experience the following day.
Have never had the shingles vaccine even though it is recommended for me. Maybe I am just too cheap to fork out $300 for it. COVID and flu shots are free for me so no hesitation to get them.
Huh, i didn’t pay anything out of pocket for shingles vaccine, either.
I got flu and covid in the same arm because i wanted to protect the arm i mostly lie on when i sleep. I was happy to get them in the same spot. I may go to the same pharmacy this year.
If, at my next well visit, my PCP offers me the updated Covid vaccine along with the flu, I suppose I’ll get it. But I’m going to go around to pharmacies looking for somewhere that has a dose in stock like it’s 2021.
Last time i got covid & flu, everyone had vaccines in stock, and so long as i was willing to wait a day or two, i had my choice of appointment times. Easy-peasy.
The Affordable Care Act requires coverage without cost-sharing for generally accepted/recommended preventive care, for non-grandfathered plans governed by the ACA.
Your medical insurance is more generous than my government plan. You Americans are turning into socialists!
I’ve always had vaccines covered, by several different plans, starting well before ACA. I’m surprised Canadians have to pay for vaccines.
In Finland, only old people get flu vaccines covered. It’s very much a “maximizing the rate of return” sort of situation.
Mine was paid by my HSA, so i didnt notice it.
After my wife got shingles, i didn’t hesitate to get the vaccine. She was in agony for a few weeks, and i had to live with that.
Not free in Canada?
COVID and flu vaccines are free for me but not shingles vaccine. Shingles vaccine coverage varies by province.
My shingles shots were way less than that.
Nope.
Got the first of my two Shingrix shots today; no side effects. In Ontario they are free if you are between ages 65 and 70 but cost $330 here in BC regardless of age.
The needle wielder advised that the new COVID vaccine would be available in October so will get my annual flu, COVID and second Shingrix shots then.
I asked my needle wielder yesterday about this and she advised not combining Shingrix shot with others. Thus I will do the new COVID and flu shot together in October followed by the second Shingrix shot a few weeks later.
Have not had a pneumococcal shot so must schedule that as well. Unlike Shingrix, the pneumococcal vaccine is free for seniors in BC. Don’t know why we only have to pay for Shingrix here.
I did shingrix about a year ago. I found it very unpleasant. Not quite the same as my reaction to the covid vaccine, but about as bad.
I also got the mpox vaccine this summer, before going to an event that had a lot of skin-to-skin contact. I had almost no reaction to that. A spot on my arm was slightly itchy for a while, that was it.
This fall i expect to get flu, covid, and RSV vaccines.
