I just ordered a Cajun Cuban sandwich and a cup of gumbo for lunch today, might hit Culverâs over the weekend.
Itâs OK. Itâs a bigger piece of fish compared to any of the other fast food places and is an actual chunk of fish rather than a formed patty. It is battered rather than breaded. So, I guess, good for a fast food place, but not better than that imo. Like most fast food fish (and even with there being more fish), the coating dominates the flavor of the fish. When I finished, my thought was that I should have skipped the bun, which dominated both the fish and the coating. It also has the McRib thing going for it - itâs not regularly on the menu and, in this case, only shows up in spring. It was OK but I wonât get another this year or maybe for a few years.

And Cajun Cuban and gumbo sounds WAY better imo.
Itâs a restaurant thatâs in my rotation, the gumbo is definitely way above average. I normally get a po boy, but decided to try the Cuban, only available on Thursdays.

Sauce is from Trader Joeâs. We usually make our own sauces, that that one is top notch. So easy.

Chili dogs!
Whatâs your stance on mustard on chili dogs? It seems to be pretty common, and I like mustard (even on a non-chili hot dog), but not so much on a chili dog. Just chili, cheese, and white onions for me.

today, I just boiled up a few dogs and added Guldenâs and some Hormel chili. I didnât feel like chopping up an onion.
BTW: mustard ALWAYS goes on a dog, whether itâs plain, with kraut, pushcart onions or chili.

Hit the hot food bar at the local grocery store, so got kind of a sampler with small amounts of broccoli, brussels sprouts, pot roast with carrots, mashed potatoes, and a meatball.
Do Skylineâs chili dogs have mustard on them by default? If they do, thatâs the answer. I can crush those little guys.
I was with you until the meatball, seems like the odd one out, but overall still sounds pretty tasty. Iâm having brussels sprouts tonight.

Yeah, the meatball was a letdown, too. Dry turkey, apparently, in a too-sweet sauce. I could (should) have done without it.

What did that cost ya? Around here it woulda been like $14
I didnât take a lot of anything, so it was a fairly small lunch. The grand total after the weigh-in was exactly $4. Last time I looked, admittedly a while ago, I think the rate might have been $7.99/lb, but I didnât look at the price this time.
