We have a 'What’s for Lunch" thread. Why not one for dinner?
My first try at eggplant parmesan was pretty good. I’d use a little more sauce next time.
Frozen burrito. Meh.
Duck confit, over cabbage and roasted potatoes. Cranberry gravy and An egg over the top. With a Monkey Shoulder scotch
Omg I don’t know can you please just decide?
They’re much better if you heat them up. Usually about 2.5 minutes or so in the microwave (depending on wattage).
Lately, my wife and I have been trying to do ‘elevated dinner Saturdays’.
We make a (close to) restaurant quality dinner on Saturdays.
A few weeks ago we had scallops with a hoisin glaze for an app and rack of lamb for dinner. Another night we had crab cake app and a steak dinner with roasted potatoes. (Steaks were prepared sous vide, finished on the grill–yum!)
The past two Saturdays and the next two we had/have other obligations, but the next time will be some double-cut pork chops for the dinner portion. We are still figuring out the app. I may do something with some light, seasonal veggies in some sort of salad.
Last night were merely tacos. (Chicken or chorizo were the proteins)
Once you try sous vide, it’s hard to eat steak any other way. I got lazy and just grilled some steaks last week and they were fine, but it’s not the same.
Last night we got really lazy and went to Sonic, about once a year I really crave a chili cheese dog and a (now diet) cherry limeade. I know, pretty white trash, but I like the nostalgia, I grew up in Sonic country.
The Sonic near us just closed up. Was the only place to grab a fast food hot dog. Like you, I’d only get them sparingly.
Sous vide is great, but involves planning ahead.
French dip sandwiches. Thin beef from Aldi, au jus, fresh bread loaf, mayo + dijon, sauteed onions, provolone cheese, under the broiler for a couple of minutes to toast the cheese.
Some leftover phyllo meat pies our neighbour brought over, with some steamed veggies and tomato/cucumber salad.
Sous vide is for sous vid ers.
Sourdough bread and Camembert. It’s a “fend for yourselves” night here.
Spaghetti and (homemade) meatballs & sausage.
I saw a quote to the effect of I love my family and would do anything for them, take away their pain, etc, but I really, really hardly ever want to make them dinner.

It was wing Wednesday! At a local joint that smokes them, sauces, then grills. A lot lighter fare than fried, best wings in the city. Plus they recently tapped a few beers I like. Yes, please.
