shrinking has good moments but some things that annoy me. goldstein is a creator, so great. but there are some goofy things in it that bug me and I only rate it “good” not “GREAT!” like i would TL
What kind of goofy annoying things?
Final season of Bosch: Legacy just started in Prime Video. Graduated release on Thursdays over the next few weeks.
Finished “Loudermilk.” Very funny, in a Farrelly brothers way. So, crude, uncomfortable at times, tons of dysfunctional characters, unPC a lot of times.
Only three seasons ending four years ago, but Farrelly has a vision of seven, and he says that many of the actors are up for it.
I actually just started Shrinking over the weekend and really like it!
there are some things Jimmy does (via “Jimmy-ing”) which seem so outside what is ok for a therapist to do. inappropriate to me.
the adults in the show are so up in each others stuff. is anyone that close or involved in eachother’s lives? maybe I’m just suffering bc I lack that, but my experience is “no”.
there’s a lot to like, but those things bug me.
Binged Adolescence. Kind of just reaffirmed my worst fears.
I started up 3’s Company last night (Peacock) - first few were a little risky! Mr Roper touches a woman’s boobs. YIKES!
Peacock?
I could have sworn 3’s Company was on ABC when it aired.
Did you see the recent Bar Rescue in Kenosha - a place called The Interlude II.
They also went down the street to a bar called Rustic to do a comparison.
I didn’t - but I will!
I know the Interlude II. Next to the #1 Pizza place in the world BTW (Kaisers Pizza).
Rustic is a Brewery about a block away. They sold a trademark to the Leinenkugle brewery a few years back (“Helles Yeah” - I think that’s what the beer was called). I got to meet Jacob L that day as I helped sell the Rustic Beer for $2 a can at a block festival to get rid of it all before Leiny’s started to sell their Helles.
I dated the (Rustic first) owner’s ex-wife a few times.
Kenosha also has a “Bar History” book. Each bar was named X when it first opened and every owner change / name change is logged in it since, iirc, 1877.
My childhood neighborhood bar was Tuska’s Grandview Inn. My dad would cash his weekly paycheck here on Fridays with the other blue collar hood.
There are actually 52 bars (roughly) that I have never been in. In 2023 a group of friends hit every one (I think 125-130) that was open in that year. Interlude II was one of the bottom 10. Somers’ House was rated the worst.
Disney+ Watching the old Daredevil series (3 seasons) so we’re caught up for Daredevil Reborn. Should be done with season 3 about the time all episodes of the new one are out. This is the old Netflix ones that were definitely in the more gritty vein of Marvel offerings. (I believe they had spinoffs for Jessica Jones, The Punisher, The Iron Fist, Luke Cage and the Defenders as well but not sure we’ll go back for those) I enjoy them, but they are a bit too gritty for my wife.
It was.
Depends more on who owns the distribution rights, which is either the studio where it was filmed or the producers of various levels.
In this case, it is the estate of Don L. Taffner, who I believe Produced or Exec-Produced.
Same reason Friends is on Max and not Peacock, and why Cheers is not on Peacock.
Apparently, MAGA snowflakes are butthurt over “characters making fun of Trump voters.”
No one is making you watch it.
So far, nearly every character is vile enough to be the dead body found at the beginning of the season. Probably will end up being one of the non-vile ones killed by a vile one.
Here’s my prediction:
Tim shoots and or kills Gaitok.
Tim stole the gun from Gaitok.
Gaitok stole the gun back from Tim.
There will be a confrontation over the gun because Tim wants to use it on himself.
Gaitok is shot. Maybe Gaitok gets shot protecting Mook
On another note: I finished the current season of Reacher. It was passable, I guess. It was just ok, and if I never watch another season, I don’t think I will be too disappointed.
Rawhide
Hip_tiger_wife canceled Netflix after seeing their ~30% monthly rate hike.
I’m following suit
Too many imported shows/movies??
Dropped in Jan following Squid Game season 2, will probably add a month this summer for season 3 and to binge anything else before dropping/pausing it again.
Yeah, I have decided that I can rotate my streaming services a few times in a year and come back in a year or two. I don’t really need to have too many streamers simultaneously.
So I am getting out of Netflix and Paramount + and moving into Apple for the next 3 to 5 months.
I have watched a lot of good stuff on Paramount+ over the last 4 months or so, mostly the Taylor Sheridan stuff.
Started and finished Running Point on Netflix yesterday. 10 half hour episodes about Kate Hudson’s character being appointed the president of a pro basketball team in LA. Has weak Ted Lasso vibes, but I found it entertaining and am looking forward to another season, if there is one which it looks like there will be. Also has Justin Theroux as one of her brothers, the crackhead one.
