What are you reading?

next genre up - Romance

Wuthering Heights - Bronte

A Calling for Charlie Barnes - Josh Ferris

i’ve liked his prior books. so far so good

Listening to it now.

Let Them Theory is redundant chapter after chapter. It is getting tougher reading another chapter as she just gives another example of the same thing. Letting them is something I should do a lot of. It has a powerful message that will help make me a better person.

Just got ā€œWhere are all the customer’s yachts?ā€ Originally published in 1940 it’s a humorous look at the misbehavior of stockbrokers.

I finished We Solve Murders, by Richard Osman. It was entertaining. Like the Thursday Murder Club books, it was light and had to do as much with the characters as with the crime solving. It brings together an odd set of people working to solve some murders - a bodyguard who protects famous people, her mild, conservative, and set-in-his-ways father-in-law, and a famous, rather wild, fairly old writer who was being protected by the bodyguard.

Just finished State of Wonder by Ann Patchett, and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading more of her work.

Just finished Food for Thought: Essays and Ruminations by Alton Brown, the Food Network star, and one of my favorite celebrity ā€œchefsā€. I put that in quotes as he addresses the idea of ā€œchefsā€ and how some insist on being addressed as such. Very entertaining read!

Sounds good.
His recipes are easy to follow, at least the ones I choose.
The ā€œGood Eatsā€ shows are great and are on Max at the Mo’. Watched the tenderloin ep last weekend.
I don’t watch food competition shows, though.

Just read Wellness by Nathan Hill. Started off slow and I skipped some pages, but the rest was good. Learned a lot even though it’s fiction. It kind of reminded me of Babbitt in some ways. Not sure if that was on purpose by the author.

At one point, he mentioned a character learned that juice fasts were discredited because people got the same results with fasting, drinking sugar water, and eating a multivitamin, and I was thinking… well… maybe it’s not that juice fasts should be discredited but that you can do it the other way too.

Just not as expensive. Why waste the money.

next genre up… Science Fiction / dystopian

going on vacation, so want something of good length, but not a heavy hard cover, so going through the shelves, settled on Divergent - Roth

Started Michelle Obama’s auto-b.

and i discovered i never saw the movie.

Just finished her 19th novel, The Grey Wolf. Not as good as A World of Curiosities but still very good. Penny fans will enjoy it. Looking forward to reading my 20th Penny novel when Black Wolf comes out.

Just started Mort (Discworld series) yesterday. I didn’t love the other Discworld I read, but my brother keeps telling me to give them another try.

I think I’m going to bail on Death Comes for the Archbishop which doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

Have I not posted here in the past year? Wow.

Currently in the middle of The Drawing of the Three, Stephen King, (The Dark Tower book 2)

Which other Discworld did you not love?
