Summary

I didn’t bother to save my weight history from the ao before it got canned. I started making an effort to drop some weight in late 2018 when I hit 206. Was between 180-185 for most of 2020. I’d look best around 160, but I am not willing yet to make the concessions on diet and exercise to get there. I like to eat well and I know what it takes to get me to 160. I think 170ish is a good goal for now.

Highest adult weight was 235 and lowest was 160. Both were over 20 years ago. I’m 5’11"

OK with holding steady for a couple of weeks. Only got one fast day last week, had a big weekend with @T-roy drinking some beers and having more fried foods than usual, and then this week had a couple of days where I felt bloated as residual from contact with a COVID-infected person and I think my body was fighting that off.

Background: Went from maybe 190 to 180 in old AO thread. Went up a bunch during pandemic, peaked at at least 225, been steady at 220-222 for a while.

I’m adding 7 lbs. to the home scale to try and stay consistent with where I do my fitness testing, but this is the lightest I’ve weighed on the home scale in a long time.

That’s a positive this morning, even if my back fucking hurts from work over the weekend and I’m doing good to stand up and support my own weight. Going to try for a steady diet of evening hot tub time to help that out.

I’m not sure I’ll weigh in every week… I tend to weigh myself when it’s either been a while or I’m pretty sure I’ll like what I see. If I know I probably didn’t lose anything, sometimes getting confirmation on that is discouraging to me. I know… it should be motivating, but sometimes it’s not, so this is what’s working for me.

I didn’t exercise much for a couple of weeks, so I anticipate slow going as I build some muscle mass, but my pants keep getting looser, so that’s encouraging even if the scale doesn’t budge.

People are different on what works for them, and you should do what works for you.

While moving the wrong direction can be discouraging, for me monitoring progress helps with my personal accountability. It can motivate me to be better about diet/exercise if I have been slacking.

This is more of a guess. The scale said about 209 this morning; adding 7 like I have been gets to 216, and … I am not up 4 lbs. in a week. But I also don’t think I’m down 3 lbs, either. I’m going to vaguely split the difference this time around.

I did decide to go walk for time last night. I vaguely have a schedule set up for walking for time, akin to a race schedule; not every time will be all-out, but last night pretty much was.
