Ways 2 Well

holy deductible Batman

ā€œRoutine blood workā€ will vary by doctor, FWIW. Very likely highly influenced by the underlying insurance covering that cost.

and the full panel of what you might be seeking could be a weird ask that lacks a medical basis (general curiosity isn’t a medical need).

Unless you request otherwise, routine bloodwork through your PCP is pretty limited. I’m assuming W2W provides a more robust, comprehensive panel than the standard panel your PCP will provide.

You know what - I will post all of my markers - hang tight

Thanks for posting that, @T-roy. One issue that might need to be considered (especially if you drink alcohol regularly) is a potential ā€œFatty Liverā€ disease.

I was formally diagnosed with a non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NASH) that is now treatable. I had high AST & ALT (in the liver panel) along with high triglycerides, cholesterol, and an elevated A1c.

I was put on Wegovy (to address the need for weight loss) along with a newly approved Rezdiffra medicine.

Yep - I have been drinking a lot the past 7 years. I cut way down at the end of last year. I think the party is over with regards to my drinking habits. The AST #'s and diabetic history has me scared.

At age 45, I was afraid of cardiovascular disease and bypasses. All the uncles and my dad had heart attacks prior to 46 y/o. Again, all smokers and some overweight. All my cousins and myself graduated unscathed from that. Most of us were on some kind of anxiety meds (I was also going through a divorce).

My daughter, a genetic counsellor, tells me often that the biggest factor for our mortality isn’t genetics these days, it’s more lifestyle. So…fix your lifestyle if it needs fixin’.

IMO, ā€œgeneticsā€ is a cop out explanation for why we have ā€œhealthā€ issues (or ā€œhabitā€ issues).

I’m a big proponent of personal accountability of one’s choices; something that seems to be a non-existent ā€œforceā€ in modern society.

It’s like working with a headwind vs tailwind. Harder. Not impossible.

Exceptions exist, of course.

Yeah lol. My mom has heart conditions, just like her parents. Who also smoked a pack a day.

My maternal Gma lived to 99 with high cholesterol and meds.
I’ve been on Cholesterol lowering Simvastatin and a liver med Zetia for almost 20 years now. And 240 cholesterol is low in the above results (It is normally 260-280)

Funny, when I lost weight from triathalon training my Cholesterol increased 25%. The foods I added were nuun w/protein and caffein, protein powders and cliff bars.

I’m fortunate. I’m often overweight, but no cholesterol, no bp meds, nothing.
Doc whines at me a bit but not enough to put me on meds. My numbers are all pretty good.
I think it’s because…lifestyle. I rarely drink, and I’ve generally maintained an exercise regime throughout the years, often an intense one (lots of half marathons, centuries, etc). And now I’ve gotten off the ruts again, I should last pretty much forever.

I think I know who SpaceLobster is!!

I know, I know . . . HFBB
