Wausau Day Trip

Need’m recommendations on what to do in the great city of Wausau

Stop by a cheese shop. Buy some summer sausage.
Visit Rib Mountain.

I see that there is a place called Applebee’s. Is that a good place to eat?

Given the location, you probably only need to tip them $20.

Make sure you know how to spell Wausau. This old TV ad for Wausau Insurance will help you.

If the ski lift at Granite Peak is open, do that and get a great view of the area. If you want to hike around, Nine Mile Forest has a ton of trails and Rib Mountain State Park has trails and is closer. If you want something more flat, Marathon County Park is really nice, there’s also a couple parks along the river near downtown.

Briq’s Ice Cream, which should still be open. There’s a few locations. That was our everyone is done with exams, let’s go celebrate location. Wausau Mine Company for burgers and such. Brew Brothers was supposed to be good, but it’s tiny and when we went the staff was inattentive.

If for any reason you need medical attention, do not go to Aspirus. I would do my own major surgery before I would trust most of the staff there.

If you’re into heckling people, I’ll give you the address of where we lived; ask them why the hell they hacked down the apple tree we planted and ask if they’re ever going to stain the fence or if they’re just going to let it rot apart like they’re doing everything else there.

Wausau is so far north, you might as well take a 45 minute sled ride north and see Santa on one of his 364 off days of the year.

That reminds me: if you’ve got a vehicle, you can go to 45 N, 90 W which is about 20 miles WNW of Wausau.
