From the CDC website, it’s not clear if being immunocompromised or 50+ is a requirement or just a recommendation of the CDC. Nevertheless, if Walgreens wants to make it a requirement, that’s their prerogative.
yeah, i suppose you can go somewhere else that doesn’t ask. still not sure i want a booster anyway and am using the CDC recommendation as my rationale for not getting it.
although, 50 seems somewhat arbitrary. i doubt once you hit your 50th birthday your risks from covid shoot up.
Gotta draw the line somewhere, I guess
And 50 is a pretty reasonable place to draw the line

Or from Journal of the AMA (notice that the vertical axis is on a log scale, and that these data aren’t adjusted for %vaccinated, so later periods show the impact of more vaccination among older people.
For me shingles vax was worse. Even had a small rash near the injection site that lingered for a week.
I went to Rite Aid in person and got my 5th shot. They were confused at first but I showed them that cdc.gov was recommending it (immunocompromisd). They shrugged and gave it to me, now I have 1 full and 1 partial vaccination card. I didn’t have to give any proof.
My gf’s 3rd dose was a full dose rather than a booster dose, based on her doctors recommendation. The pharmacist looked at her kind of weird and was hesitant at first, but gave her the full dose on her word.
Given when i caught covid, i probably had one of the more recent omicron variants… so not sure if an omicron booster will really do much for me. It at least needs to be more appealing than trading 1 guaranteed day of feeling crappy vs what should hopefully be less than the uncertain 3 days of feeling crappy from the actual covid.
I mean, people are getting sick again after having omicron in January so ….
If I had the May version of covid and the updated vaccine is January version, am i going to benefit from it beyond a shorter term boost in antibodies? Id think an omicron booster will be good for the remaining virgins and those who caught delta or earlier variants.
FDA is discussing omicron boosters this week. They think they can get one that protects against omicron out in September, so they probably won’t open up second boosters to original-strain to more people, for fear of confusing them about the fall boosters, and having less uptake then.
The news was actually broken by WaPo, but this is presumably paywalled.

I’ll take it the second I can, it will be shot #6 for me.
I’m supposed to go to a bachelorette party next month and then a wedding - not super excited about that but obviously science won’t hurry up for me.
I’m heartened by the invites which said, if you are not fully vaccinated then please don’t come. At least they are being good and firm about it.
Just got the 3rd shot - Moderna booster. They didn’t stamp the vaccination card - “just another annual vaccination.” I got the annual flu shot as well.
So are boosters annual now or every 6 months?
Ah the good ole days when I had to show my vax card to eat in restaurants
Now we are back to everyone rawdog breathing in each others lung gas as god intended
Anyways I think I’m done getting boosters. I don’t seem to be getting any benefit compared to my non vaxxed family members whenever we inevitably give each other covid. We are all on our asses for about two days then recover since we are generally in good health
Thanks for nothing Covid vaccine
Probably annual, except immune compromised people might get them more often.
Is an annual booster really necessary? This seems to be fading into the background with the other endemic coronaviruses and few people are getting boosters at this point. Is it severely affecting anyone but those who are already very ill for other reasons?
Like every vaccine ever: about half of the reason is for yourself.
It should not be any more than that.
Alas, society changes.
Hopefully they can find a way to just combine the flu and Covid vaccine in the future
One less needle in my arm when I’m 65+
Bout #2 of COVID seems worse for me, will make more of a point to boost next year.
Edit, no this is likely strep not COVID, next time I’ll try to get antibiotics sooner…
