USA Men's Soccer Thread

Reliable sources dropped news right at kickoff that Berhalter is returning to coach the USMNT. The timing of the drop was obviously not accidental, and a shitty distraction. Could have easily waited post match

Stadium PA has asked crowd not to perform homophobic chants

In Spanish, right?

Si señor

Sounds like the US-Mexico game got pretty ugly: more like a hockey game than a soccer match.

I expect the US will win easily on Sunday as they are so strong when playing in the US. Just hope that Canada can be competitive. I doubt the match will deteriorate the way tonight’s did though.

No McKennie and no Dest for the finals. Concacaf and FIFA will “scold” Mexico again for homophobic chants but do absolutely nothing.

I appreciate the tactical downplaying of Canada. US are good in the US sure but Canada has looked pretty good the last few matches against us.

If anything Canada might be the favorites.

That Mexico US match… that was peak CONCACAF. A ref afraid to give second yellows loses control of the game and sends off 4 players. Dest was an idiot to retaliate…McKennie got screwed in my opinion.

I LOVE that the US are better than Mexico these days.

Well it wasnt the US organizations choice to announce it then. It somehow got leaked and a journalist got the scoop and published it.

I just don’t understand how Mexico went as far as they did at the World Cup. They looked terrible tonight.

Could have been even worse: since Pulisic was not off the pitch, he was given his second yellow and should not have been allowed to be substituted.
Correction: Pulisic was only give a yellow. Univision showed red, and I don’t understand Spanish to hear any correction there.

Pretty satisfying, though. We are without two players for the final, but Mexico is hopefully without whole stadiums filled with fans.

ESPN asks if Pulisic better than Donovan: Yes, he has always been better than Donovan. Donovan had to retire halfway through his career.

Prediction: that third-place match lasts no longer than the first Panama goal kick. Win, Panama.

ESPN jackholes admit they were wrong about USA talent. More that they are wrong about Mexico’s talent. Most of the team play in LigaMX.
Also, the talent of Flo is indisputable. Didn’t score, but garnered a lot of Mexico attention. Mexico knew whom they had to beat. But forgot Capitan America (Univision’s words).

Clint Dempsey’s words are powerful!
And, it’s about fucking time.

Sure…

Pulisic and Weah are so fast. Love seeing them work together

No way. #47 ranked Canada playing #13 ranked USA in the USA. Canada’s only recent win over the USA was in wintry conditions in Canada. USA should be two goal favourites as they look stronger since the last time they played each other.

@Kid_Rock : how was the atmosphere inside? Ratio of MEX:USA fans?

I had a change of plans with travel and didn’t make it

Would have like to see all the red cards.

Stadium was almost empty for the Canada-Panama match but the Americans showed up in huge numbers for the USA-Mexico match. Maybe they should have the semi-final match that does not involve the US team outside the US next time to get a decent crowd.

I think the crowd paid for both matches, so CONCACAF got their money.
