Olive Garden??

It’s ā€œupscaleā€ because none of its menu items include rasins?

I hadn’t realized the food quality situation in Canada had become so dire…

What’s a ā€œrestuarantā€? Is that a Canadian cuisine company?

I think they serve stew.

It’s a place that serves fud and is all hi klass and :poop:.

I went to a Texas Roadhouse for the first time in 15-20 years and it was super underwhelming. I used to think that was a good steak dinner. Maybe now I’m just a snob.

Their quality has slipped over the past few years.

I still like the Roadhouse. Now, if I make steak at home it’s usually Costco prime beef, in the sous vide with a sear. And yeah, if I smoke ribs, I can do better.

But, the peanuts and rolls are nice. And it’s like $22 for sirloin, ribs, two sides.. for what it is I think it’s a good time. Yes, I could do without the line dancing, and the flavor of country music they play. Throw in some Jason Isbell or Tyler Childers, please and thank you.

Most of the chain places are fine, but nothing special imo. We do Olive Garden every once in a while because breadsticks.

My spouse was at one time was a fan of Olive Garden. But the last time we went was the last time we’ll be going. Overpriced, food was below mid.
There’s enough inexpensive decent restaurants that we don’t have to eat at slop anymore.

The last time I was at OG was a good 20 years ago in SW Ontario. I might go when it opens in the summer just to try it out.

I have ok memories of Red Lobster in the US.

It still seems to be around.

It’s… fine. I actually still like it for the nostalgia, though there isn’t one in my city so we rarely go. One draw for us is the cheddar biscuits, but nowadays you can buy the mix and make them at home. So we do that more often, seafood, biscuits, potatoes, done. Maybe throw on a couple steaks and surf ā€˜n turf it up!

I do have a fond memory of going to RL in college, I was really into weight lifting. I was a pretty big guy and I was maybe 20 years old, prime eating years. They had endless shrimp, and I had 80 of those suckers.

Ah, so you’re part of the reason they went bankrupt.

Yeah, I over-ate there and then stopped going, hitting them on both ends.

Also, I can’t believe I forgot to include this when I mentioned my college escapades:

Yeah, OG and RL, and Applebee’s, are mostly nostalgic for me at this point. I do enjoy the food, even though I always walk away feeling like I overpaid for an experience that’s not as good as I remember.

Applebee’s in particular was a very influential spot in my early 20’s. Got pretty wasted there on Long Island iced teas more than once. Ate half price appetizers after 10PM with my friends every Wednesday night after church. Ah, good times.
