It’s possible that those jobs pay so little that the workers get significant needs-based support from the go’vt.
That’s another type of subsidy.

We’re not anywhere near this, and I agree we don’t need to do this. I’m fine with the modest subsidy we do have though.
This may be of some use tonight:
Another meaningful subsidy here is schools. Whatever the funding mechanism (property tax, sales tax, income tax,…), in general the populace at large is asked to fund the education of children. That’s a good thing IMO so I’m not complaining, but it is a meaningful wealth transfer from childless folks to families with kids.
Shouldn’t we have a GDT specifically for this?
I just look at it like student loans.
I’m paying society back for the education they gave me.
Agree. Another good subsidy.
With those rules, I’d be under the table in the first 10 minutes.
Everyone needs to chug about immigrants eating dogs and cats
How is this race remotely close???
Because the landlord serf model was better?
what in the world was that “immigrants eating dogs” line? complete self-inflicted wound…
that, plus the “I have concepts of a plan”
Reading the shitzone known as Facebook, the Trumpistani is spiking the ball while claiming that Harris constantly dodged questions all night and had no answers for anything.
It’s not a cult, it’s just a group of people who have been trained to believe only what they’re told and to ignore what their eyes see and their ears hear and to never question anything about the person that they are following.
so to clarify the main issues are
Haitian dog eaters
Criminal immigrants getting sex changes
and post birth abortions
And healthcare - he has a concept of a plan for that, don’t worry about it.
Probably the most humble thing I’ve heard him say
What I think each candidate needs to do to win:
Harris - everything from here to Election Day has to paint Trump as being erratic and unstable, and someone who cannot be relied on in the emergency. If she can hammer away that he does nothing unless he gets money off of it, that’s a bonus, but she has to hammer away at his mental (in)acuity and his age and get voters to now look at Trump the same way they’ve looked at Biden for the last year and change.
Trump - “it’s the economy, stupid.” He largely doesn’t have to do anything new - which is good, because he’s going to keep rambling incoherently in every appearance he makes making ever more wild false allegations - but every time he touches on the economy, it hits with people who largely don’t care about what the future will hold, they’re just pissed about what the past was.
You know what, I am impressed by that answer relative to how he normally is.
Everything always needs to be perfect, beautiful, the best, the greatest in history, brings big strong men to tears.
For once he almost admitted the truth. He may as well have said “I don’t have a plan.”
How could he have a plan, he wasn’t the president the last four years
I haven’t been paying a whole lot of attention to the election aside from stupid tweets/comments by Republicans.
Is the issue of geriatric care even an issue in the US elections?
Saw this a few moments ago…

In my province it seems like senior related issues are driving a lot of our problems in health care. Hospitals are full of seniors who need positions in long-term care homes, which blocks up the ER because there are no spaces available to take in patients elsewhere in the hospital. So then the ER can’t treat people because there isn’t a place to examine someone or a bed to put someone into as they await admission to the hospital.
Add on, people in their 40s and older need to see doctors or other medical professionals a lot more often than 20-30 year olds.
Anyway, seems like this should be a huge part of the US elections, but from my limited observations it doesn’t seem to be. Also not sure if the imminent problems with SS funding are being discussed.
