More pressure on Starmer to stand up to Trump. Actually all Starmer has to do is to threaten Trump with the cancellation of his UK state visit and audience with King Charles III. 
That is more important to Trump than tariffs on the UK.
Trump continues to view VAT as an import tax so not sure how he can exempt the UK from tariffs.

What we are witnessing now is people with intelligence and education bending over backwards to suck up to Trump by writing completely ludicrous analysis.
Its truly mind-bending how some people will write complete nonsense simply because their salary depends on it.

EU could be hurt more than Canada in US trade war?
European wines will be substituted by US wines if the price triples. German car manufacturers will invest more in the USA than in Germany going forward, etc.
At least Canada has resources that the USA wants and we can focus more on east-west than north-south trade. Canadian provinces in the past have focused on selling to US border states rather than to each other.

Oh yeah, I totally pushed my most recent car purchase up to Nov 2024 because of looming tariffs and potential EV credit ending. Final assembly point of my Chevy Equinox EV: Mexico. I’d have to go look up the parts content.
And the thing about tariffs is the amount is hidden from the consumer. Introducing a stealth tax and then removing an explicit tax. Calling it “revenue” while bemoaning other “revenues”.
It will be complicated collecting tariffs by country of origin.
Maybe he means a tariff can pay for an income tax cut. Seems completely accurate that the poor and middle class are going to pay for this one for the wealthy.

This seems like sanewashing to me. I understand your logic, but he didn’t say or imply that. This administration has repeatedly tried to spin that tariffs are not a tax because other countries pay them.

Looking forward to seeing how these guys explain the increase in car prices in a few months’ time and the related layoffs when customers defer purchases.
They will probably blame Canada and Mexico for not putting down their prices. Fox will amplify this.
We are basically at the point when logic and objectivity have been sidelined for soundbites.
