Trump Arrest Watch

The judge will determine sentencing which can be anything from Probation to 4 years in Prison. I don’t know if a fine is also a possibility.

I think he also has 6 months to appeal and he’ll probably wait until the last day to drag this out as long as possible.

Given he has no priors, unless you count the Trump Organization trial he lost too, he’ll probably get Probation and whatever fine the judge can impose.

So as a convicted felons does this affect his eligibility to be on the ballot or to vote?

he can’t vote for himself in NY

Earlier polls showed that a guilty verdict would only prod about 5% of Trump supporters to consider changing their support for him…hard to believe, but you could have a President who is a convicted felon.

Sentencing will be interesting.

NY Times says this is not an impediment to him being elected.

If only that gag order hadn’t prevent Trump from testifying, I’m sure he would have convinced the jury of his innocence.

I believe as a convicted felon and a resident of the state of Florida he would need to petition the Governor to restore his voting rights, but I could be wrong.

It does however have no impact on his ability to be on the ballot or to be elected President. He just might not be able to vote for himself depending on Fla law wrt felons.

I just can’t get over how quickly the verdict was rendered.

I imagine the safety of the jurors gets to be a new priority now.

Agreed and hopefully the jurors are smart enough to maintain a low profile.

If it is true, that is huge considering the swing states and Biden margin in 2020 -
Fla -3.36
NC -1.35
GA 0.24
AZ 0.31
WIS 0.63
PA 1.16
NV 2.39
MI 2.78

Every other state Trump or Biden carried by 5+ points.

If Trump losses “5% of his voters” it will be very difficult for him to win. It just matters if those 5% are really truthful when they say they are leaving Trump. I mean heck Bill Barr said he should be removed but he’s voting for him, Nikki Haley said he’s unfit, but she’s voting for him. So I imagine that’s a pretty popular refrain among trump supporters.

I am pleased that I lost that bet.

Only 5% said they would consider changing. Probably a much smaller number would actually change.

I was also expecting a hung jury. But when i heard they’d already reached a verdict, i knew they agreed.

No way in hell I’d go public

It’s also worth remembering that in the US, political polls about the Presidential election traditionally couldn’t be trusted until Labor Day.

I’m not certain how a rematch, or the conviction of one of the presumptive candidates might change the calculus.

No way I’d serve on that jury if i could possibly avoid it. Someone will spill the beans.

I’d think the jeopardy to personal safety would be a significant incentive to keep my mouth shut.

I would assume that folks on this forum would all be smart enough to keep quiet about serving on this jury.

But it is always possible one of these jurors would be stupid enough to be enticed to publicly talk about the trial either for financial or celebrity reasons. Hoping none are that stupid, of course.

Did somebody say book deal royalties!?!?!?!?
