I wonder what this does to his plea deal agreement in the the prior Trump Org case or if he’ll be recalled to clarify his testimony. Guess he’s trying to walk a fine line that will let him still receive trump severance package while not running afoul of his plea deal with New York by saying he didn’t recall but called out on by a journalist who had receipts.
Well that seems safe for when he’ll actually violate the order.
When he gets in trouble for violating it might take considerably longer though, or never happen at all. They called Reagan the Teflon President, but a frightening thought is that the moniker may end up being more suitably for Trump.
It would be delicious if it happens that way though.
But I think we have to assume that the judge and everyone in the judge’s family are probably getting death threats. So the judge might not want to throw his/her weight around just because (s)he can.
judge in DC was already threatened and there is a woman from texas under arrest for it.
as the judge said - free speech is always constrained some when you are a criminal defendant under indictment for several felony charges. the defendant has signed an order of release while awaiting trial and verdict and has to adhere to it, including limits on speech and other activities.
Would appear to be a violation of the gag order in that case per this snippet above:
The gag order prohibits parties in the case—including but not limited to Trump—from “posting, emailing or speaking publicly” about members of the New York City court’s staff, Politico reports.
I see that the Q folks are confused by this turn of events, with some of them swearing that she didn’t really plead guilty…it’s just a trick being pulled by the government with holograms or somethig.
I haven’t seen that. But I have seen people say the fact that she isn’t getting any jail time means that the government over charged and the charges are bogus.
Interestingly enough (at least to me) is that Chesebro apparently declined a plea offer that would let him avoid jail time in exchange for apology, testimony, and probation. I wonder if Powell will testify at his trial. If she has anything truly damning to say, I’d like it to be said before the election.
The Georgia case has what 19, 21 defendants? Something like that.
So 2 plea deals, 1 going to early trial and the rest set to start in Q1 of 2024?
Do I have that right.
Guess the Kaken decided that misdemeanor pleading was better than a probable felony conviction at trial given the way the rest of her law suits have seem to gone in recent years.
