Unfortunately, that would mean Desantis would probably get the nomination.
There’s another thread around here somewhere that has my explanation for why I view that as worse than a Trump nomination. I think current polling disagrees with part of my opinion (that Trump would be more likely to lose in the general election)…but it’s still early to put much faith in the polls.
I don’t think DeSantis is as likely to win the general election. That said, if he did he might be worse than Trump. Hard to say since, although there are similarities, in a lot of ways they are differently bad.
I might think that the evidence here is damming, but people who read the NY Post may get a different view:
Quotes from DeSantis, McCarthy, Hawley, Rubio, and Jordan on “weaponization”.
Also, but-what-about from Comer and Stefanik
“The exact same day that the FBI is forced to turn over to Congress absolutely damning and credible allegations regarding Joe Biden’s illegal, egregious and treasonous corruption, Joe Biden weaponizes his Department of Justice to indict Donald Trump,” Stefanik [said in a statement]
If you want to get to Trump, you’re going to have to go through me, and 75 million Americans just like me. And most of us are card carrying members of the NRA. That’s not a threat, that’s a public service announcement.
Can you imagine any prominent Democrats saying something like that if Clinton had been indicted for the emails? Or the mass condemnation that they would have received?
On twitter or truth social? I am tempted to say I would be happy to pick you up at the miami airport so you can make the arraignment. I wouldn’t mind her getting arrested.
Meanwhile in Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon has been arrested, apparently on issues related to the reason why she resigned a few months ago. No mass threats of violence or civil war by members of her party. It’s almost as if laws matter over there.
The big indictment hadn’t come, yet. That’s election interference. Mishandling documents is going to be easy to prove, but people who like trump aren’t going to care. Inciting insurrection is something important, but may be hard to prove. Election interference may be both important and provable.
Both the former SNP party chief executive Murrell (Sturgeon’s husband) and the former treasurer Beattie were arrested earlier this year, but as with Sturgeon, released without charge.
Apparently Trump is having difficulty getting representation in his latest case. Seems surprising to me. I mean not terrible surprising given it’s Trump and all that comes with it but I’d think someone could charge a large enough retainer up front to take the case on.
Issue with that amount being available up front; also Trump is a notorious non-payor.
Oh, Trump could illegally use campaign funds, since he thinks all that money is his to spend however he wants, tax-free
