I realize that your purpose here is largely as a troll, but I assume that Iran is either forcing people to do the more traditional method in which the penis is turned into the vagina, or doing the less complicated minimal depth approach in which the penis and scrotum are turned into a clit and labia but the patient doesn’t receive a fully armed and operational battle vagina. Strongly doubt that they are doing penile preserving vaginoplasty if the point is that they hate gay people and view this as a way out.

I don’t understand why all gay men would have to transition (this is in Iran, mind you, so not sure I have to understand).
I think the answer is as simple as a significant portion of those that run Iran are evil. I also am assuming that transbians are not allowed to transition.
Unfortunately, I can easily imagine someone proposing that trimming the twig and berries would be one way to curtail a gay man’s “sinful” behavior.
I can imagine one line of reasoning.
Suppose the interior of the heart does not close up correctly during development. We fix it.
There is no reason a body cannot fully develop into the sex it was “supposed” to be, as indicated by the soul.
So a gay man might not be able to change his attraction, but he can change the sex of his body to a degree, as well as his entire role in society. Then his attraction to men will be heterosexual as God intends. (Or so the reasoning would go.)
While it should be obvious, it should be pointed out that sexuality and being trans are very distinct things. Surveys have found that the transfeminine half of the trans population happen to be lesbians, bi, straight, and ace in moderately even proportions.
It’s also worth acknowledging that doctors in the west have also conflated sexuality and gender. Even 20 years ago it was still fairly common for doctors to only want to treat straight trans women and not provide medical care for trans lesbians, and patients would be asked what they fantasied about when masturbating. In some cases, doctors would deny care to patients that they were not sexually attracted to, or exchange medical care for blowjobs so that the women could prove that they were straight.

Notice the weird statements from hhs:
“Our priority is ensuring that the information presented internally and externally by HHS reflects gold standard science. We remain committed to reversing harmful policies enacted by Levine and ensuring that biological reality guides our approach to public health.”
Again there is a strange need to anchor this in science, not religion as I might have expected. (I suppose gold standard science has no comment on the factual basis of her legal name.)
The article doesn’t fully describe how bad the essay was. I’d be embarrassed if my middle school kids wrote something that vacuous. The instructor’s explanation for the 0 was an essay that was almost as long as the student’s essay, detailed exactly why it didn’t address any of the requirements of the assignment, and also stated multiple times that the topic of the essay was ok, it was just that the essay itself was shit (well, she did say that calling classmates “demonic” was not appropriate for a classroom setting)

After delays, a contentious public relations campaign, and quibbling over language, a fast-growing North Texas city has become one of the first cities in the nation to ditch an anti-discrimination ordinance for LGBTQ+ residents.
On Tuesday evening, the Arlington City Council voted 5-4 not to adopt an ordinance that would enshrine protections for LGBTQ+ residents into the city code. The ordinance has been suspended since September after city officials and some residents claimed that Arlington could lose state and federal funding for having it on the books.
Originally passed in 2021, the ordinance explicitly prohibited discrimination within city limits on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. Residents were empowered to bring discrimination concerns to the city, though the original language had no explicit enforcement mechanism. Some city council members proposed a compromise to bring the ordinance back, but with new language that would essentially nullify the rule if it was deemed to violate state or federal grant requirements.
