Seriously doubt this is the culprit but I’m switching to famotidine and nixing the dexilant for the time being in case it is. I had taken blood tests in the past thought while on dexilant and it never gave me anemia.
My experience was that I had this low level always with me fatigue for over 10 years. My doctor pretty much blamed it on being a mom, even though she had commented on my iron from time to time. When some scary stuff happened and my gyn also didn’t pay attention to what I thought were important clues in my bloodwork, I finally took matters into my own hands.
There is a women’s center here in town that a friend told me about. I decided to go there and talk to them about my issues even if I had to pay out of pocket. I brought them all my recent test results and told them everything. They did some additional testing and diagnoses a mild thyroid issue. In the meantime I looked for a new PCP bc the women’s center didn’t deal with the sniffles. I honestly just looked online and found one with a video I liked. I wasn’t sick, so having to wait for an initial appointment wasn’t a problem. She is the one that found my iron issue and she also helped me rearrange when I took my medications so that I would sleep better.
It turns out my fatigue was caused by a combination of issues, none of which are severe or life threatening. When I fixed all of them, including bad habits, I felt better.
I’m now in a not great cycle again which I think is related to mental health issues & maybe a little bit mid life female issues. It’s been 2 years since I saw my new gyn (having fired the old one) so I need to schedule an appointment and ask some questions, maybe have some blood work done.
In my process of trying to figure out what was happening, I read a book called The Hormone Cure by Sara Gottfried. I don’t follow her strict regimens but I did learn a lot and it helped me to piece together clues so that I knew what to ask about.
Yup got it might be depression from my gastroenterologist and non doctors who don’t know what they are talking about. The new one is “are you sure it’s not covid. Take a covid test.” Both my gastroenterologist and my sister suggested that. I’m not taking another covid test. It’s not always covid. Every symptom there is these days is assumed covid.
I just sort of nodded and said sure sure I’ll take a pcr test when the gastro suggested getting one. I’m definitely not going out for a pcr test for a symptom I’ve had on and off for months or years.
Did it become severe? Mine has been pretty severe rather than low level.
Gotta say, i see covid everywhere, but your symptoms really don’t sound like covid.
We all took covid tests yesterday before gathering for Passover, though. If i were you, I’d probably do the stupid test just to make the doctors move on
My fatigue has only been severe at times when I knew I was not actually sleeping. By severe I mean that I might make it to work but would be falling asleep at my desk. 2-3 nights of good sleep would fix it. But I cannot remember a time when I woke up feeling rested. I have to force myself to get out of bed always.
I do hope you can sort things out soon, ao_fan. Fatigue is miserable.
this was the gastroenterologist who i was seeing for the horrible reflux i was having, not for the fatigue symptoms. the reflux seems to be getting somewhat better, so he had me move off the dexilant in case that’s causing the fatigue and on to famotidine. he said to see him again in 2 months if symptoms don’t get worse again. i’m not actually seeing him for the fatigue. i just mentioned it because i mention it to every doctor i see for anything these days. so it doesn’t matter in that regard if i follow through with a pcr test.
i got a pcr test in september when i had this fatigue because it came on strong right after i flew home from a trip and i actually did suspect covid as a result. wasn’t covid. then i took another over the counter covid test when my reflux was bad because my sister suggested it. i’m not going to take another covid test again unless i truly suspect i have covid rather than to appease people.
supposed to have jury duty next week and i’m kind of scared that I could catch covid there on top of what i already am experiencing now.
yeah, it’s not really that kind of fatigue. i can tell the difference between fatigue where i’m just not sleeping well and this. it’s different.
or it magically goes away again. i’ll take that too! it did magically go away after 6 weeks in september.
might try and ask a doctor at my spa vacation next month if they have any clues. those doctors are super expensive and all out of pocket, but sometimes they have ideas. my sister went to one of them when she had some weird dizziness issues years ago that no doctor could figure out. that went on and off for years for her. her blood pressure would also drop to dangerous levels. i don’t think she ever figured it out (doctors are so limited), but after years passed it resolved itself. my blood pressure has been on the higher side the last few times i checked it, so it’s not that.
This magically goes away when I leave my apartment and go to my parents’ house or a friend’s house for an extended period of time. Might need to do that again once i finish jury duty.
Maybe your building has a slow CO leak.
Or VOCs that you are sensitive to.
i’m seeing an endocrinologist and a rheumatologist in june. i could be dead by then. the np suggested a rheumatologist. in gooling that doesn’t seem to fit at all, but what do i know. my mother insisted i see an endocrinologist, so i’m seeing one of each, but not until june.
my nurse friend suggested a cardiologist. like, should i just keeping guessing doctor types until one is enlightened?
at my last physical, my tsh levels were in the normal range, so i’m doubting it’s a thyroid issue for an endocrinologist to diagnose, but i’ve been told that could be normal and you still have thyroid issues. also, my EKG I assume was normal at my last physical too since they didn’t say anything so i’m doubting it’s a heart problem to need a cardiologist.
i think i need to escape to my parents’ house again unless i die going to jury duty tomorrow.
idk, me and nobody else in the building?
Maybe your neighbor is starting to play hardball to get your place. ![]()

If you are feeling better in June you can cancel those appointments. I like the endocrinologist idea bc they look at all kinds of hormones, not just thyroid. Out of balance hormones can definitely cause or contribute to fatigue.
