yeah, i’ve had said experience in the past too and it wasn’t anything serious.
if i see poop blood right now with this tired feeling though, i’ll likely freak out even more. so hopefully that doesn’t happen. one internal organ going crazy at a time please.
That’s why bright red poop blood is less likely to be serious than black tarry poop blood. If it’s bright red, it’s probably just hemorrhoids. But if you are bleeding further up it can be anything from an ulcer to colon cancer.
i’d imagine that black tarry poop blood isn’t that easy to even spot since poop is already dark.
your TMI symptom and blood loss can def lead to exhaustion. my wife has (as part of menopause) dealth with very long and heavy TOM. (except “m” isn’t accurate as they are now also a little irregularly spaced.) wipes her out.
It’s not actually heavy. Its just long. But I suppose it could explain fatigue. Wouldn’t explain why i was exhausted for 6 weeks in September though since my TOM was normal then.
does your wife do anything to battle the constant fatigue other than sleep?
Did you have Covid? My son (17) had some stuff like that going on 3 or 4 weeks post Covid. They gave him one of those steroid packs where you start with like 7 pills and ween off and they gave him antibiotics. That cleared him up, but his Dr. said they were seeing a lot of inflammation type stuff. He had a lot of stuff going on too like migraines type headaches, high liver enzymes, stomach pains, and he was really tired all the time.
nope, never had covid.
i also don’t have migraines or stomach pains. just tired as hell.
Your son had especially long/heavy TOM?
Nothing that truly works. Iron pills. Lotsa water. Attempts at rest.
Yeah I’ve been chugging water
When I’ve been tired from low hemoglobin i like to eat liver. The iron in liver (and egg yolk, if you don’t like liver) is more digestible than iron pills.
I’ve been told I need to eat more liver (and I eat precisely none, because I don’t like it). So I was advised that if I won’t eat liver (which is better) then to take this instead:
It contains liver, so not vegetarian, and if you have any in your purse and are visiting a household with one or more dogs, the dog(s) may go nuts over it because they will be able to smell it.
But doctors used to freak out about the state of my liver enzymes before I started taking these and they no longer do. I can’t say as I’ve noticed any other difference besides the lack of freaking out by doctors when they draw my blood, but that is something I guess.
I’m just looking for sources of heme iron to eat, not “liver health support”. I happen to like liver, but egg yolks and red meat are both decent options.
I fry an egg almost every morning. Does said yolk have to be runny?
To taste good, yes, IMHO. But to be a good source of dietary iron, no.
I hate runny eggs. To taste good to me would be solid.
Apparently dark green leafy vegetables like spinach are high in iron. So are rai-SINS.
Dunno if these have heme iron.
Go eat some heme iron.
Rai-SINS are also high in vileness and soul-draining evil.
