Things that bother you more than they should

I was plenty warm but sandwiched on the couch between a dog and kid.

Sitting on the phone could crack the screen, so you should be bothered

:unamused:

I once had a microwave/convection oven combo.

My take is that being smaller they heat up faster, which saves energy. But I think they’re also not as well insulated. So if you’re broiling garlic bread or a bagel then use the microwave combo thing because the reduced preheat time is the deciding factor. But if you’re baking a lasagna for 75 minutes then go ahead & use the oven.

I suspect they are less insulated. That might be somewhat mitigated by the smaller surface area… I’m going to have to think about this when my brain isn’t fried. Been staring at Excel way too long last night and today!

I bought a new oven several years ago, and was astonished at how much better insulated it was than the old oven. The walls were thinner, too. It’s just better.

The better insulation means that it heats up faster, that the kitchen doesn’t get as warm, and also that it holds its temp more reliably. If your oven is old and leaks tons of heat, it might be worth checking out a new one.

I think the range is about 8 years old, it’s a Kenmore Elite and it’s actually really nice. See above, I think there may be something to the insulation angle.

Lamps. I have an irrational hatred of shopping for lamps.

Hopefully you’ll lighten up someday

what a way to throw shade on her

I find it can be unpleasant in places with insufficient ventilation as it gets hot to be walking through aisles and aisles of lights turned on.

It takes 18 :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:‘in minutes for my ******in’ oven to come up to temp so I can bake a loaf of bread!!! :rage: :rage: :rage: :rage:

That’s got to be frustrating. I assume it takes ~10 minutes for my oven to do so, because that’s how long I wait after putting cold leftover pizza on a cookie tray and setting the temp to 400° before pulling the tray out and the slices being delicious and crispy again.

It gives my bread more of a chance to rise :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:, but it still annoys me!!!

I use my toaster oven if I want to reheat pizza PDQ!!!

Need to replace the igniter.

Reheated pizza is gross.

Not if you reheat it in the oven. Skillet works pretty well too, but requires more oversight.

Interestingly enough matzah has to be made in less than 18 minutes or else it won’t be kosher for Passover

I looked this up on teh interwebz!! So I’m assuming that a commercial bakery making matzah wouild have to follow the same standard.

Yes, as long as they pass inspection they can put a Kosher for Passover label on their boxes.
