MTT was an American conductor, composer, pianist and music pedagogue. He conducted a wide variety of music internationally, with a focus on the works by Gustav Mahler and of contemporary American music, the first to record works by Aaron Copland, Charles Ives, and Steve Reich. In 1987, he founded the New World Symphony, an American orchestral academy in Miami Beach, Florida, serving as its artistic director laureate. He was also music director laureate of the San Francisco Symphony and conductor laureate of the London Symphony Orchestra. His compositions include From the Diary of Anne Frank (1990) Shówa/Shoáh (1995) for the 50th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, and Poems of Emily Dickinson (2002). In 2021, he was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive type of brain cancer. He died April 22 at age 81.

Ted Turner: DEAD!
Mr. Turner was an American entrepreneur, television producer, media proprietor, and philanthropist. He founded the Cable News Network (CNN), the first 24-hour cable news channel. In addition, he founded WTBS, which pioneered the superstation concept in cable television, as well as television network TNT. He also dabbled in sports: he owned the Atlanta Braves baseball team and captained the United States to victory in the 1977 America’s Cup yacht sailing race against Australia. He died today at age 87.

Jason Collins: DEAD!
Mr. Collins was an American professional basketball center for 13 seasons in the NBA. He played college basketball for the Stanford Cardinal, earning third-team All-American honors in 2001. Collins was selected by the Houston Rockets as the 18th overall pick in the 2001 NBA draft. He went on to play for the Nets, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Hawks, Celtics and Wizards. After the 2012–13 NBA season concluded, Collins publicly came out as gay. In February 2014 he became the first publicly gay athlete to play in any of the four major North American pro sports leagues.He announced his diagnosis of stage 4 glioblastoma in December. He died to day at age 47.
