Breaks the tie for 2nd, little movement in the 4-6 range. Now poised to sit 3rd here and in the GoA survivor fantasy football game. I’m sensing a theme today.
I had him #1 on my 2025 list. Now I need someone else next year to come through for 15 points.

Jimmy Carter: DEAD!
President Carter was born and raised in Plains, GA. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1946 and joined the U.S. Navy’s submarine service. He returned home and revived his family’s peanut-growing business. Opposing racial segregation, Carter supported the growing civil rights movement, and became an activist within the Democratic Party. Carter served in the Georgia State Senate from 1963 to 1967 and then as Governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975. As a dark-horse candidate not well known outside Georgia, he won the Democratic nomination and narrowly defeated the incumbent president, Gerald Ford of the Republican Party, in the 1976 presidential election, healing wounds from the Vietnam War and Watergate. After serving one term, he went on to be a global humanitarian. He entered hospice 22 months ago. Death poolers around the world awaited his passing as he hung on, but he succumed yesterday at age 100.

I have it heard observed that the timing of Jimmy Carter’s passing will “spoil” the inauguration, as flags will be at half-staff, in mourning (unless protocol is changed).
before Alice (based on Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, not Alice’s Restaurant), I remember her as a cop on Barney Miller for a season. Was very good as the Machatunim on Mom. and the best part of B Positive. Looks like she was working to the end.

I did manage to crack the top 100 in DDP in my first open competition entry. I also had an unfortunate miss with Anastasia Zavorotnyuk, with her passing at a reasonably young age but failing to get a qualifying obit. I knew she was a little risky there, but thought it would happen.
I think my 2025 entry is much better, but we shall see.

184 here. All my hits were “drop 40”. I also lost a hit with Bob Brinker not getting a qualifying obit. Considering the time elapsed (6 years) since Bob went off the air, I wasn’t too surprised. Bob was only on my theme team, which has never been competitive.
I’ve checked all of the remaining celebrities and all are still alive, as far as Wikipedia knows. If Mohammed Deif is found to have passed during 2024, I will update the standings for Ezekiel_Cumberland, who nevertheless does not make the top two, so the official announcement:

Mohammed Deif: DEAD!
Mr. Deif was a Palestinian terrorist and the head of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian nationalist Sunni Islamist organization Hamas. He was credited with masterminding Hamas’ rocket and tunnel attack strategy against Israel and for the October 7, 2023 massacre of 1200 innocent Israelis. His July 13, 2024 death was confirmed last week.
