The Daylight Savings Thread

I’ll not enjoy the extra hour of dark in the morning.

Ill enjoy that in another month or so.

Someone posted this link a year ago

It demonstrated why i am one if the few who likes changing time every year. I’m in one of the places where it works, and I’m the kind of person it works for.

Anyway, i had to be someplace early (for me) yesterday, so i set an alarm to wake up. I woke up 15 minutes before my alarm went off because of the sunlight streaming into my bedroom. And it’s great for me that my friends will be starting their evening activities an hour earlier and ending an hour earlier, so I can get home and get to bed.

It’s dark at 7:30 am where I live. :confounded::confounded:

But honestly I don’t care. I just want them to pick a time and stick with it.

Whereas i don’t ever want to wake up before dawn. And changing the clocks let’s me avoid that, while also giving me more wake-time sunlight in the summer. (And let’s me hang out with friends in the evening and still get some sleep during the summer.)

If I were in @Ajstudies situation, I’d be unhappy too. But I am on the eastern edge of my time zone, and sky was lightening at 6:30 AM today when the alarm went off. So my situation is like Lucy’s and I am happy with it.
Eta - corrected time based on my wife laughing at when i thought i woke up.

DST means spring is coming and temps are warming and summer is coming. I hate winter

WFH today. First DST workday sucks.

Not a big issue for me today. Wife will have issues, though.

Still had five clocks to adjust.

I think my car adjusted itself. Either that or it was showing phone time.

Oh, thanks for reminding me to set the clock in my car.

Make that six (wife’s car).
However, my car has the clock in the radio unit, and it had been stuck on DST for over half a year, so, yay!
it is also ten minutes fast (and increasing), and I cannot fix that. Also, cannot change the radio station or the volume. Will decide when to replace it or the whole car.

Right now the sun sets at a reasonable time, but in the summer it sets way way way too late. I’d like to be able to enjoy the summer evenings when it’s a bit cooler. I don’t enjoy evening starting at 10 PM. Earlier the better.

If I didn’t hate switching clocks so much I’d be in favor of doing nothing in March and instead springing back around Memorial Day or so. Go back an hour rather than forward. So it would get dark at 8 PM rather than 10 PM. I’m not a morning person… I don’t like being forced to do outdoor activities before 6 AM in order to avoid the heat of the day.

Summer Nights are where it’s at. There’s a whole song about it.

Mmmm, i love long twilight summer evenings. Which reminds me, i need to buy tickets to visit Denmark, when i expect it to stay light until about 11pm.

Id like to alternate between those two scenarios on a daily basis. One night is dark at 8pm, the next is 10pm. Mix it up a bit. The logistics are obviously a nightmare, but the variability would be fun. Same with the seasons, give me a new one each week, three months of summer and winter is too long.

That’s what travel is for. You can escape the cold of winter or the heat of summer.

You should move a bit farther south.
Like, Ecuador.

Interesting. I love light in the evening in the summer that I can use do to things, and find light at 4 am stupid. I hadn’t really even considered there were people who preferred the dark.

Hhhhhhhhhh-hyyyyyyyyy
