I wish. Half these guys are scared of that game.
i love the variance of PLO, don’t understand the betting.
What part don’t you understand? How “Pot” is defined?
Example: There’s $20 in the pot pre-flop. Flop comes out. Maximum bet is now $20. Easy.
Someone bets $20. NOW what is the maximum raise? Well, the pot now has $40, BUT the raiser will match the first bet of $20. So his maximum raise is now $60.
That’s all I know. After that it gets more confusing, slows down the game, etc.
n_s can help with that.
and that’s before we make it Hi/Lo
Hi/Lo is more fun imo. Regular PLO is all about chasing nuts and folding 2nd best. Hi/Lo is more focused on quartering people and going for a lucky scoop when your boat comes on the river
i did some actuarializing in the last week or so. had to write up a summary. asked for it to be reviewed by a colleague and they said “this is really good. useful for that just came up. who did this?” I said it was me. laughs all around.
felt good to do something outside of my normal and pass it off as “ok” to another person who is not expert
I just passed level 6000 in Two Dots.
I played for church today. As an older couple was arriving they said to me something along the lines of “Oh, good. You’re playing today.”
Crumble Cookies - oh-muh-gawduuuuuh! Something with choc chips and mousse, something carmel cheesecake, something browney HEAVEN!
This was the MOST appropriate thread.
6-pack abs by end of January can FLICK OFF!
My tummy hurts!
I shared two of the 3xsmall cookie packs with Mini T-2, and there are still some left
And now I cannot sleep! I haven’t had that much sugar in a single sitting in a long time obvi!
I’m glad you enjoyed them. They have small cookies now? They mostly seem underdone to me.
I’m not huge on Crumbl, but my kids love it. We rarely get it.
I did pick up a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake thing a few weeks ago that tasted exactly like the Olive Garden cheesecake that was discontinued many years ago. It’s not phenomenal cheesecake, but my parents always brought me home a slice after their date nights when I was stuck at home babysitting my younger 6 siblings, so it tastes like my childhood. I really enjoyed it.
My childhood was spent getting faceplanted into the dirt from backyard football, bicycle wipeouts, and bullies, so I don’t really want to revisit that experience.
I was looking for an actual relevant thread to discuss this as a topic, but didn’t find anything specific to languages.
I’ve been getting more serious about learning other languages lately.
We decided we want to do a little more international travel, and I’ve decided it’s fun to learn the language before we go there. I’m showing a decent aptitude for Italian and Japanese and just decided to pick up French. I’ve also been doing some Greek but I’m not sure if I’ll keep on top of that - I think I’ve decided French will be more useful overall, despite possible travel plans to Greece.
I’m solidly in what the European system would call “A1 proficiency” for Japanese, but Italian and especially French are quite early. A while ago I was practicing about 1 hour per day - currently I’m probably averaging 20 minutes and make sure I hit at least 1 lesson from each language daily.
Years ago i could struggle through a greek newspaper. You already know the alphabet and the sounds, and when sounding out the words theres a lot of common roots with english. I had a very rudimentary understanding and could sound out/ guess the rest.
I also.was functionally bilngual in french but too many years and ive lost it all.
Id like to learn hindu but dont have the time.
I think its cool youre doing that. Keeps the brain sharp.
I have been slowly getting through internalizing the Greek alphabet, but pronouncing the written word has been a severe struggle. Not as much as Japanese of course. Given my harder time with it so far and that I’ll probably only ever use it for 6 days on vacation once, I might drop it.
My first-cousin-once-removed was in a martial arts competition this weekend. He got first place in all 3 events — form, combat weapon sparring, and sparring.
A niece (8th grader) won 1st place in state swim meet in her event. Will be attending a futures camp in WI this summer. (Not cattle futures afaict)
Frozen Concentrated Orange Juice?
They probably learn that it is best to get the true crop report and give a false one to a couple of billionaires.
I retired as an ACAS a year ago next week. For a few years I lobbied for a direct report, our area had nearly doubled in premium but they were too stingy to do so. I was replaced with an FCAS and they are now hiring for person #2.
