The Attempted Coup of the United States of America

There are MAGA voters who didn’t bother to vote in 2020. I can see them mobilized because the Big Bad Deep State took Orange Daddy away and now Pillow Guy says I have to vote to save America.

Plus people may stay home or vote for whomever the Libertarians end up running.

Did you see this story?

I don’t know what the Rs will do with picking delegates if Trump isn’t on the ballot. They may have a placeholder candidate, for example.

I had not. How utterly irrelevant though… Ramaswamy had been polling around 12-13% a few months ago but is now under 5% and falling. There was excitement about the young firebrand, but now that people realize that he’s actually a Hindu Donald Trump 2.0 they realize that’s not what they want. They want either Donald Trump 1.0 or a nominal Christian or a sane person.

I think you’re giving some folks too much credit thinking they want a sane person.

Vivek appears to have gotten licking the soles of Trump’s shoes down to a fine art.

The ones who don’t care about a sane person are pulling for Trump or DeSantis, which does comprise a majority of likely Republican primary voters at the present time. So no, I don’t think I am. I listed “sane” last.

Yes, Ramaswamy dropping out in protest is more of a joke.

But, the article says he is challenging Haley and DeSantis to drop out too. That was the interesting part. This isn’t as simple as Trump off the ballot with no other changes.

I assume that Trump could run a write in campaign, get the most votes, then say that Haley and DeSantis should drop out, or that delegates should vote for him.

I predict that Haley and DeSantis swat Ramaswamy like an annoying fly.

True, but you are underestimating the “making libs cry” faction.

I don’t think those folks care about a sane person at all.

Remember that we’ve reached the point in the deterioration of political discourse in the US that the two sides could be said to have different and conflicting views as to what constitutes “sane”.

The MAGA folks think they’re the sane ones, and that anyone who supports “the libs” is crazy.

It seems like Vivek is going for VP at this point

He seems like the perfect person for that role. Trump can talk wildly positive about him based on what he has said and done to date. And then, inevitably, it will be very easy for Trump to completely turn on him and lambast him when the time comes. I just wonder how quickly that will happen.

Of course, if Trump taps Vivek, that also makes it possible for Trump to just point at Vivek whenever any critic brings up Trump’s racism.

And in news that should shock no one, Rudy files for bankruptcy.

He’s claiming his assets are in the $1M - $10M range while his liabilities are in the $100M - $500M range.

Last estimate of his net worth was around $80M from a few years ago, did he really burn through $70M in assets in recent years? Invest the whole thing in twitter after Elon bought it?

He got in trouble with the judge in the defamation lawsuit because he refused to disclose financial information.
Now, he will have to do that for the bankruptcy action.

For sure; that’s why he never misses a chance to kiss Trump’s :peach:

DeSantis explicitly said he won’t when asked.

Colorado Republicans are potentially looking to try and switch to a caucus to get around the ruling if need be.

Yep. This ruling isn’t going to prevent Trump from getting delegate votes from CO.
