Something extravagant you bought just because

My wife really notices when I take care of my beard with beard wash+conditioner, vs. when I don’t.

This store has been showing up on my social media recently and I really like the looks! Will cost a fortune to replace the whole house though

Wow, they have some amazing products but that is very expensive. My ‘regular’ switches were about $15, and I got one dimmer for $30, but $100 is another level up.

So far I’ve fitted the fancy switches in the entry/library area, the living room, and dining room. As I go through rooms I will do them one at a time, it adds up fast.

Once again, jealous of what you’ve got going on for living accomodations.

House of Antique Hardware had a sale this week.

Remember, the phrase you want isn’t ‘can we afford to buy this’, it’s ‘can we afford NOT to buy this?’.

LOL. I also use the phrase ‘it’s not about need anymore.’

I’m a pretty good shopper and do at least some of the work myself, so even with splurging on some things I think we’ll be around $12k or $14k for the bath remodel, it’s really easy to spend way more and get way less if you hire a GC.

I just bought the Hermes Apple watch, which I was pronouncing HER-meeze yesterday because I didn’t know what that was. In retrospect, I know Hermes from Sex and the City in the episode where Samantha uses Lucy Lu’s name to buy a Birkin from Hermes.

Really, really overpriced piece of leather - but I like that it wraps twice around the wrist. Apparently that’s worth like, a lot of $$ to me. I don’t know why either.

you see high price tag, you buy.

I bought a church pew from a church giving them away. $50, +$55 to re-upholster and $50 for new cushion material and red cloth. Fits perfect in my airway room.

I found this furniture designer that is very my style. I might spend a fortune on this

Love it. Looks like the perfect spot for that!

Most of this style isn’t going to fit with my transitional home, but I guarantee I’m going to stumble on something here that is both far too expensive and something I cannot live without. It will probably be stripy.

I only have you to blame.

The family that runs that recently sold their mansion. You’ll see a lot of their decor used in the house here:

Bought a zojirushi rice cooker for $147. Their top models exceed $400 but it’s quite a step up from the $30 rice cooker I’ve been using.

Holy cow! I think my Zojirushi was like $30. It doesn’t have a lot of (any) bells & whistles, but it cooks the rice just fine. What does a $147 rice cooker do?

To be fair, I got the current rice cooker in 2014 so you’d have to inflate to current dollars for a fair comparison. To be fairer, I might be exaggerating the price. Seems like it was regularly $30 and I got it on sale for significantly less. But it’s conceivable I’m remembering wrong and $30 was the sale price.

The model I got is Zojirushi 612252-NL-BAC05SB Micom. The rice quality is supposed to be amazing and I’m trying to eat a lot more rice. My wife wanted one with a timer. She also liked the quinoa cooking option.

I think the technology cooks the rice from 3 different points to give a uniform texture. It also cooks steel cut oats, which I want to try out.
