So uh, do you guys think Putin will invade Ukraine or what

Think that scenario through beyond the five seconds it took you to reach that simplistic “conclusion”.

You will find it does not end in Russian “victory”.

I will give you a hint:

There are foreign Diplomats in Kiev.

Lol you really think the west ends the world over Ukraine?

They’re happy to use Ukraine to hurt Russia when they have no skin in the game.

If a nuke is involved? Quite possibly.

The US Ambassador to Ukraine is in Kiev.

Attacking Kiev with nuclear weapons is a direct attack on US interests.

So yes, the US would respond.

In all likelihood, the Russian public would never hear of Russia nuking Kiev.

They could, however, hear of “Nazis” or “Terrorists” detonating a nuke as a last stand against the liberation of their Ukranian brothers and sisters.

I don’t see Putin nuking Kiev under any circumstances.

However, I could see him using tactical nukes on the battlefield.

That is excellent news.

I was gonna post that, but checked again, and decided that it was plausible that the two with their backs to us are playing the game and the two we see in the screen are not actually reflections, but are part of the splash screen of the game.

Oh, the kid playing and the kid watching are NOT Matt and Ally??
Makes a little more sense, I guess.

Putin must love this story. A Ukrainian with a Nazi past being honoured in the Canadian parliament.

I will take easily avoidable situations for 500 Alex

This “scandal” does seem to be making the rounds with my Canadian friends on FB.

Agree that Putin is likely going to use it as propaganda now.

I don’t trust him but Deripaska may be correct that Russian economy has not been severely affected by sanctions.

The GOP’s already had a strong spike of anti-Ukraine, pro-Russian sentiment in it. Whether it’s via dark money/lobbying or what, I couldn’t tell you. I know on the individual level it’s Fox/OANN/Newsmax propaganda. Only 28% of Republicans support aid to Ukraine. If Trump is elected, aid will cease and Ukraine will have a much harder time. Hopefully much of the world would band together if we abandon Ukraine.

Americans with Ukrainian ancestry comprise a very small percentage of the total US population. On the other hand, Canada has more than 10 times as many percentage wise so Ukranian-Canadians are a significant source of votes here. Canadian aid of all types to Ukraine has been large ($10 billion) so far and has been supported by all major parties: that will continue regardless of US actions. Our deputy prime minister is of Ukrainian ancestry.

Well, not unexpected. After his prior negative comments and the manner in which Prigozhin died, the message to all the dissenters surely hit home.

The Speaker of the House has resigned over the mishap. I believe him when he says he was unaware of this fellow’s Nazi connection but you need a scapegoat

I have always wondered how such resignations actually work. So do all his supporting staff go too or everyone else below him is cleansed by this resignation or this is the job of the new speaker?

That seems silly. Could’ve just said, “We were misinformed, I do not stand by it, etc. etc…”

Especially when Americans are presently bringing Nazis back, and it’s spilled into Canada as well.

I tend to agree. It was obvious the Speaker did not know he was praising an ex-Nazi. I was a bit surprised he felt he had to resign. It was a case of incompetence by the folks who put this fellow forward.
