There’s some scuttlebutt out there that Putin might be in trouble. Nothing anywhere reputable though.

Agree, every leader who thinks armed conflict is the best answer to resolve issues should be out of power IMO. I’m ready for that world to be over. Let’s solve our problems economically and diplomatically.

It would be nice if Putin would step down. But who would replace him? There seems to be no apparatus for producing competent leaders over there.
Moonofalabama is more interesting. Just like when 2nd life posted, the blogger there is able to tell a very convincing story. And in the last couple days he swings from confidence, to self-righteousness, to complicated military theories, to doubt, to anger, to frustration, to propaganda again, and his commenters seem to be going through the same.
On Saturday, The Daily Beast reported that “just one day after several municipal deputies in Putin’s hometown of St. Petersburg called on the State Duma to try the Russian leader for treason, their colleagues in Moscow joined in and demanded he steps down because his views are ‘hopelessly outdated.’”
In an open letter to Putin, deputies from Moscow’s Lomonosovsky district recalled that Putin’s leadership began with “good reforms” but that as time marched onward, “everything went wrong.”
While the deepening quagmire in Ukraine was not specifically mentioned, the authors stressed that the status quo under Putin is untenable.
“The rhetoric that you and your subordinates use has been riddled with intolerance and aggression for a long time, which in the end effectively threw our country back into the Cold War era. Russia has again begun to be feared and hated, we are once again threatening the whole world with nuclear weapons,” the officials wrote. “We ask you to relieve yourself of your post due to the fact that your views and your governance model are hopelessly outdated and hinder the development of Russia and its human potential."

I expected ordinary Russians to turn on him as more of their loved ones came home in body bags, but I didn’t think the autocrats would… at least not so soon.
But good… good for them. Very good development.
My question is after this embarrassment in Ukraine and our embarrassment in Iraq and Afghanistan will world leaders learn that imperialism is untenable?
