So uh, do you guys think Putin will invade Ukraine or what

You don’t think Western Europe would help Denmark defend Greenland?

Or if American troops invaded Canada. There would be moral indignation from Western Europe but no troops. Canada appreciates it is on its own.

More likely Chinese troops than Euro…just spit ballin with ya.

Starmer seems to think that being submissive to Trump will take the UK out of the line of fire.

Might work with Trump, but it doesn’t sit right as it leaves allies flapping in the wind isolated.

Problem is we have all allowed ourselves to become too dependent on the US military as we saw them as allies, so now we don’t really have many options.

Pretty much the only agreement still being honoured by all sides.

Meanwhile, to replace lives lost…

I wonder what the costs are to the girl for this . . . and if that’s paid in addition to known monetary offer . . .

I think that at this point we can conclude that the US has become a clear and present danger to the world, and the remaining civilised western world need to treat it as an unfriendly country.

The new agreement is basically handing the country to the US, while Putin walks away with everything he wants.

These people are the new axis of evil in the world. Of that I have little doubt now.

This is horrible on the part of the USA. The EU needs to make a better offer to Ukraine so Ukraine can walk away from this US offer. Almost anything would be better than the US arrangement.

Not seeing much indignation from my fellow Americans on this forum, so I would at least like to go on the record as being appalled by our country’s attempt to take advantage of Ukraine’s misery.

Not seeing much US media coverage of this attempted grab on our part but maybe because there is non-stop coverage of the Signal fiasco instead.

This “agreement” is an absolute disgrace. I am utterly ashamed.

Here’s my indignation: Trump views the US military as a protection racket, one with a steep fee. He DNGAF about US principles or allies, just who will pay. He will likely personally get paid a lot by Putin for screwing Ukraine, and maybe Vlady will look the other way if Trump decides to invade somewhere.

This is extortion and beneath what any other president would have considered.

Yup.

have no problem with Trump cajoling other countries (including Canada) to contribute more towards their own security. But I never thought we would be increasing our spending partly because the USA has become a threat to our security! Still getting my head around that after a lifetime of viewing USA as an ally.

Autocrats falling out, maybe

It’s kind of ballsy to so openly complain about one’s boss.

This also seems to turn the US military into a mercenary group whose members risk their lives for money.

In fact, American lives are not worth risking for money. They are supposed to be risking their lives for something more important than that. Of course there has always been the ambiguity about whether a war is for US ideals or for the financial interests of the powerful. This seems to reduce the ambiguity in the wrong direction.

Trump views soldiers as suckers, people that should be exploited when the opportunity presents.

The Trump shakedown of Ukraine continues.

Well, this is one heckuva typo.
