I believe every time I got the pangram first I ended up perfect and hence with the doubling. It helps to be retired and have plenty of time. Today, as is typical, I could not get the pangram first. (Today, as I think every time. if I didn’t get the pangram first I needed the hint to get it. “Needed” probably accurate, since I doubt I would have gotten it by ever waiting longer. I almost always take that hint at the first opportunity, just in case the pangram has a double of the non-center letter which would throw off my Clean Plate schedule. Yes, I normally work out my Clean Plate schedule before any guesses, except the pangram if I see it, since every guess reduces Clean Plate flexibility (early guesses very little). I think I’ve gotten the Clean Plate every day but.a few when I’ve been surprised that a word I think should be allowed isn’t.

I so wanted to make HUBBUBS and use it when B was spicy, but I couldn’t find a way to use it and get a CLEAN PLATE.

Also, it seemed impossible to get the bonus for 13 words with so few vowels. I ended up with only 10, but 11 or 12 would not have been any more points than 10.
Oh! I only had 8 words. Are there more points for more words?
This is one of the detailed scoring reports I’ve posted in the thread. It shows almost all the bonuses I know about, except the “13 words” bonus. But I don’t know what goes into the 5 for beat the average or the 10 for top 30%. For example is the Clean Plate bonus included in that?? I even have some doubt about whether they are awarded every day. It does say on the main game page what the average for the day is. Does that change during the day? Who know, but I don’t think it has changed since an average I noted in the morning. I don’t think you know what score is needed to beat the robot, but I believe I always have. I don’t think you know what score is needed for top 30%. There have been days I’ve been average but not top 30%. There have been no days where I’ve been top 30% but not beaten average, which should of course be impossible. (Not theoretically impossible, with a highly skewed distribution and “average” being mean, not median, but these scores should not be that skewed anyway.
This one does have the 25 point bonus for Word Hoard, for 14 words. Based on other days, you get that bonus if you have at least 13 words, and I don’t think it’s ever above 25 points. I did 17 words once, for 25. 12 words, no bonus. And note that this 806 bonus did not get points for beating the average of making top 30%, even though without doubling for Perfect Game it was 403. And the average that day was 338. So maybe the “beat the average” bonus was not available that day. Or maybe some bonuses (Clean Plate and Word Hoard, or Clean Plate and Unassisted) don’t count?

Calling BS today. Reported 3-4 words that should have counted and would have cleaned the plate
I’ve been burned that way before. Recently I’ve been “playing” in two browsers. One for my actual scoring guesses. A second one to try words to see if they are valid. After some of the words that clearly should have been valid but weren’t, it seems very reasonable to me. I’ve still been burned on words that seemed so obviously good but weren’t, but none which I couldn’t recover from.

Did get the points for beating the average and top 30%.
So close to being burned today. I was planning to use ERE but it wasn’t allowed, and it was only 3 or 4 words from the end. I thought it had been allowed before but maybe not. Fortunately by experimenting in the second browser I did recover, with YER , which I don’t think of as a word. A further consequence of losing it is that the overall recovery process reduced my word count from 12 to 11, but no bonus for 12 words anyway. Reported that ERE should be allowed.

And then burned today, after thinking I had escaped. I had just assumed that SPRIGHT would be OK. That was a very bad assumption, but I really should have checked. That one’s not worth complaining about. It was to be my penultimate word, but I was able to recover, and in the process of recovering I got the 13 word bonus. But then my ultimate word. SISSY. I was so pissed that S had never been the spicy letter, so I wouldn’t get it tripled. But then it wasn’t an acceptable word at all. No recovery at that point. Had I known earlier, I would have had a much higher score. I don’t see why I should have needed to check that.
