Signal snafu

How you gain power by breaking the law and not being punished.
The Law is supposed to be the most powerful thing, the rules that govern everyone in society. Break a minor law don’t get punished, then break a bigger law don’t get punished, eventually every law break indicates you are more powerful than the law. You are outside, above the law and the law cannot reach you. Your power is greater than all of society and your actions are only controlled by your whims.

In the past we can see this when corporations or billionaires break the law then in court bend the definition of the law to make their actions nonpunishable. Unless that bend applies to everyone going forward and not just those able to buy a team of lawyers then society is weakened and the law beaker is stronger. Now our government is authoritarian. Unless society can enforce the Rules of Law against them we are no longer under the Rule of Law just the Rule of Power.

US media are still focused on the Signal snafu whereas the rest of the world’s media are more focused on yesterday’s tariff announcement. Maybe Trump picked yesterday to announce the tariffs to lessen negative US media reporting on them?

I think this image might be more appropriate:

You’ll get fired for this, unless you are part of the DEI cabinet initiative

Is the fall guy walz the one who added the reporter? Has that been confirmed? I guess the question is if we have evidence of who based on the reporters signal data and not just speculation or a story from the admin.

Walz is currently in Greenland with the Vances. Maybe he will be left there.

I was gonna like that, but then thought, no, no advance party.

I’ve not used Signal. Is it not like other apps where the presence of someone who doesn’t belong would have been noticed? Yeah, there’s special stupid for having included the reporter, but shouldn’t the other have noticed, too?

Yes, it’s clear you were added to the group and by whom. Screen shot of Goldberg seeing he was added

ETA: many people in this group just had initials displayed. I think Goldberg was JG.

If Goldberg said it, it’s true. It wasn’t an unfair theory that the admin was lying and throwing Waltz under the bus, but may as well put that theory to rest.

Gotta like that MAR added MAR . . .

He’s no giant, so he might be able to find work.

I assumed he added a second device

I’ve been on Signal since before the first Trump administration. It’s a text app, with encryption. I admit i only learned now that it has a “make this message disappear” option. But the interface is very much like the interface for any other text app. On my phone, it’s almost indistinguishable from the interface for “Google messages”, which is my default SMS app. It’s not very different from the interface for WhatsApp, which I’m told was designed as a reskin of Signal. (Which is open source, so you can do that.)

But I dunno about you, i find it all too easy to text to the wrong person. I have all sorts of messages in my history saying things like, “sorry, that was supposed to be for xyz”.

That can happen.

However, instead of just admitting that happened you have the admin floating ridiculous theories about how his phone number got sucked into someone’s phone or that the reporter hacked his way into their chat.

“I accidentally added” implies gross negligence.

Instead, we have gross negligence and blatant lies.
