Is there a shortage of gallon jugs? Bc I can’t figure out why gallons of water are more than $1 now. (Distilled water for CPAP, and drinking water for convenience/armageddon/storm season.)
Aren’t they made from petroleum?

I finally made it to the local liquor store (VABC). The shelves were half empty. I am finding it tough to get Buffalo Trace Bourbon here. Also didn’t have Titos Vodka. Bummer!
I took some students trap shooting last weekend and the weekend before. We went through the last of their shotgun shells - the club has no more shells and can’t buy anymore right now. What the heck, you guys vote in obama again or something?

Contrast dyes used in Radiology and Heart Catheterizations. My Hospitals are “aggressively conserving supplies and postponing elective imaging”.
From a system near me:
We appreciate everyone’s participation and efforts submitting mitigation strategies to reduce daily IV contrast utilization by 80%. The worldwide supply constraints are more severe than we had anticipated, with only a few bottles coming into the organization in the next two weeks (we typically receive cases of contrast, not bottles). The situation is critical and our analysis indicates that an 80% reduction will not be enough to sustain services that are considered life threatening and critical.
Therefore, until further notice we will limit contrast use to urgent/emergency or life threatening clinical scenarios only.
At this time, we ask you to:
- Anticipate that Radiology will be screening all orders for IV contrasted imaging and will potentially contact you to discuss alternatives.
- Expect that this will impact your practice in procedural areas and teaching of trainees.
- Be aware that all Ambulatory Imaging with contrast will be postponed or screened for alternatives effective Monday.
Thank you for working collaboratively to ensure we deliver the best possible care to our patients during this state of crisis.
Tried searching this thread and didn’t find it, but around here I’m seeing lots of people saying Baby Formula is in very short supply.

Jeez, both of those sound really really bad.
I’ve read that goat’s milk is closest to breast milk. I sincerely hope that no one needs that information though. But it’s a better alternative than babies starving to death, obviously.
i think pediatricians carry lots of formula in stock so hopefully that helps alleviate the shortage
Eh, they carry free samples to give out to new parents. And while they could certainly deplete their stocks, I think that’s a pretty tiny portion of all formula consumed.
And they probably haven’t been getting their usual free samples from the manufacturers if we’re on the verge of a shortage.

Our pediatrician doesn’t. They have coupons for formula, which doesn’t help if there’s none in the stores.
