AS has been involved in passing 2 L’s, so they are the person I want in my government. However, they will also be president next. Is that giving AS too much power?

Based on what’s happened so far, I’d say it’s unlikely AS is regular I. Everything he’s done has supported L, so he’s likely L but could possibly be the Baron. If he is the Baron, there’s no danger in electing him now. However, I share your concern with someone getting elected when they are up next.
